Ended up as front (web)page news in The Guardian here in the UK. There has been the odd occasion that's happened with a wrestling story, I seem to recall the last being Reigns' leukaemia.

Breaking - WWE board investigating Vince

It's definitely far reaching news. But, so far it's been a whole lot of nothing. My guess is the official retirement is a sign that something big is going to be discovered. But we'll see.
Honestly, I don't find it a very interesting topic. But I do have an interest in how this will change the product. All sorts of online talk: getting rid of Kevin Dunn, promoting Paul Heyman, bringing back the black and gold backstage team...etc.

And in that vein Triple H has been announced to be taking over the Vince role when it comes to creative. I don't necessarily expect to see long term plans changed, such as wanting Rock vs. Reigns at 'Mania and Cody returning to go after the World Title but the old NXT but the was booked rather different to Raw & Smackdown at the time so over the next few months we could see some more subtle changes.

Maybe. But was NXT booked differently because that was HHH's dream? Or was it booked differently because no one thought it was best to be too similar to main roster? Even XT 2.0, has more of a character based show, but it's produced differently than the main roster. Much more backstage segments in the performance center, parking lot attacks, pre-tapes. It moves much faster than the main roster show, more of Attitude Era speed.
Basically, things will change, I'm sure. But I don't think it'll be all that drastic the way black and gold was compared to Mondays/Fridays.
A minor point is that it's possible 2.0 will change more now too. Apparently 2.0 was a direct influence from Vince. Without him, 2.0 might revert to a black and gold influence (I hope not, but is possible).

I don't know the legal side of things, but this line within one of the news articles about Vince's resignation seems like it might be more serious than him simply making payments.
WWE announced today that an ongoing internal investigation revealed McMahon made payments of $14.6 million from 2006-2022, and that he “has or will repay” all expenses, personally. WWE’s announcement also noted that they were revising previous financial statements for the impacted years.

I'm not sure that it will. My friend, when you're a billionaire peeling off a few million to shut someone up is nothing. He could have been giving multiple people seven figures to keep their damn mouths shut every year for the last 20 years.
For future reference: if you ever happen to find yourself as a sexually deviant billionaire, either pay prostitutes or porn stars.https://youtu.be/wue-ZFnEta8
My latest (and hopefully last) Covid-Era show
