  • Who says Sasha and Bianca have to drop the titles before WrestleMania?

    Comment

    • I just cannot see them holding the belts and facing off at WM for the SDWC.

You would know b/c I cannot remember, but has a Tag Champ team ever faced each other for a major singles title before, let alone at WM? Then have the singles title switch hands, and then have to defend the tag titles at a later date?

      • They literally made it a talking point on Smackdown last week, when KO referenced that Cena and Michaels did it at Mania 23.

        • Cena and Michaels in 2007, although Cena retained.

I don't know, I think I'm much more into the idea of Charlotte vs Asuka right now than Charlotte vs Rhea.

I hope Pen is right on Shayna vs Asuka last night not being a one off, and if they do build it into something for Mania I am all in.

Actually, given the mention(s) of Charlotte - where was she last night? A couple of weeks ago the story was that she had basically wanted to have some long-term plans in place for her return and WWE had set them. Appreciating that Lacey's news probably changed things for her, but it seems odd to have had a Raw without her right now - unless it's something to do with the Andrade stuff, I guess.

              • I think that the last RAW Charlotte was on was the one after Asuka got her tooth knocked out. when she said that she wants to challenge for the RWC. But I think that the WWE changed plans to go with Asuka vs Shayna with a built in story b/c of her tooth.

The WWE dropped the Charlotte gunning for the title to go in a different direction, which hopefully is Ripley.

Shayna and Nia are defending against Sasha and Bianca at Fastlane. To continue with Asuka vs Shayna, I would have had Asuka distract Shayna to cause her to lose the Tag Titles. But the monkey wrench is then that Sasha and Bianca then become Tag Champs, and they have the SDWC match at Mania, and they would then have to drop the titles before Mania, which is too much hot potato to the WTTT.

So my guess is that Shayna and Nia win, with Sasha turning on Bianca. Then on RAW, Shanya and Nia defend against *gasp* Dana and Mandy, where Asuka distracts Shayna to cause them to drop the titles. That, to me, is the best option, on what to do with the tag titles, to free up Shayna for Asuka. You could even add Nia to the RWC match to make it a triple threat.

And in all of this, we would still get Charlotte vs Ripley, which I believe is what we all want.
A Sasha heel turn only a few months after initially turning face with her feud against Bayley? Sasha does make a great heel, but I'm not wild on the idea of turning her heel not even half a year after she turned face.

                  • Charlotte was not on Raw this week, but was in a promo last week with Mandy and Dana talking about being above their positions on the roster.

From the Lacey pregnancy and the Asuka injury, plans are likely being reworked.

                    • Or she's someone that has to isolate after the recent NXT covid outbreak.

                      • Remember the before times? Like before Randy Orton spent six months feuding with someone who turned into a low budget Power Rangers villain?

To hell with health and safety. WWE can't get back in front of full arenas soon enough so at least some if this supernatural smoke and mirrors bullshit can end.

                        • See, I liked it - for what it was. It's a storyline beat, for sure, but it's fine as that.

Fastlane itself did nothing that couldn't have just been handled on weekly tv, but at least we got Bryan vs Reigns out of it.

                          • Wait, wait, wait. Sheamus and Drew just showed the entire wrestling world what a No Holds Barred brawl should look like. It was not a spot fest. There was nothing that required pre-set up, or one guy waiting for the other to climb up something. The two guys went out and literally beat the shit out of each other. That was one of the best brawls of all time.

And do not give me the spot with Sheamus getting thrown through the screens. Yes that was set up, but it appeared to be a real spot. It was not the KO with the fork lift, or a pre-planned hand cuff spot, or any of the AEW shenanigans.

                            Sheamus vs Drew was awesome.

Also Bryan vs Roman was old school as it gets for the first 2/3 of it. I'm not a big fan of the ending, but it will probably lead to including Bryan in the WM match which is good then.

EDIT: Early reports are that Bryan is being added to the match.

The melted Fiend mask was at least appropriate, but the rest of the out fit and bad 'burned arm gloves'? Terrible. On the positive side, it looks like Bray dropped a few pounds during his 2 month hiatus.

                            • I mean, I enjoyed Drew vs Sheamus being two big meaty men pounding meat as much as the next man, but I don't think it could have not been done on TV at all. It was a clear second best match of the night, for me, but then nothing else on the card popped for me at all so that says it all, really.
