  • Would it really be a bad thing if Bayley won, though? After either Bazler or Lynch hits their finisher on the other, Bayley could toss one of t he out of the ring and get the pin.

    • It wouldn't be terrible, but it wouldn't have any real effect. She can walk out of SSeries saying she pinned whoever, and won the match, and get credibility for Smackdown. I get that logic, and it's definitely a positive. But it doesn't outweigh the possibilities of Shayna getting the win and going back to NXT. It also makes her star shine even more by the time she moves from NXT to one of the other brands. Becky winning makes sense because she is the biggest star.

I would want Rhea to cleanly pin Charlotte. That could one of the first big time moments for the next big thing in the Women's division.

On Smackdown last night, the had Ripley pin Charlotte while Charlotte was bridging into the Figure 8 applied onto Sasha, a brilliant way of doing that BTW. So Charlotte can easily get eliminated from the Woman's match.

Besides, Charlotte is a 10x champion. She can lose every match on TV or PPV for 6 months and still not lose one ounce of stature.

        • Just because something could happen, doesn't mean it's likely or that it should happen.

That said, that was the most creative pin I've seen in a long while

          • Without a doubt. I was just commenting that Coach said that Charlotte wouldn't lose to the NXT C team, and while Ripley is no where near the C team, Charlotte, not Sasha took the pin. So it could happen, not will happen tomorrow.

            • Holy sh!t! What an ending. I think the most shocking thing that happened at War Games, was that they showed Brit Baker on camera and made mention of her by name.

              • It's just unreal how complete A Takeover event is. Any of the matches could be match of the night, though I'm voting Riddle VS Balor. It was the least spot based match, most technical and my style. Plus, heel/tweener Finn is so much more interesting than anything else he's done in WWE.

                • Really. I thought the first 5-10 minutes was slow. The second half of the match was great.

I really liked the triple threat. But I figured out one of the reasons that I cannot get into Pete Dunn. His ring attire. The singlet makes him look like a high school kid wearing a women's bathing suit. I know that is really superficial, but it is completely distracting.

                  • I think it's a valid complaint, even if it doesn't bother me. I'm sure it didn't help that he looked like a child compared to the giants he was in the ring with.

The site I visit for show reviews gave this an 8/10, which is also the score they generally give NXT and Dynamite each Monday, and I can't help but think they grade TV different from PPV, because if this was an 8, than the Wednesday night shows are 6-7.

Also, I marked out for the new HeMan based WWE figures. Masters of the WWE Universe... Unreal

                    • He did look small, but of all the conversation on the AEW page, his offense, because of his size and ability made him believable. 5'10" and 205-210 and thick. I believed that he could hurt the much bigger men.

                      • He lives his Bruiser Weight gimmick very well. He's another smaller guy who makes up for his lack of size with other attributes.

Notice how over the badass characters are? Rhea, Shayna, Io, Dunne, Ciampa... The presence of these characters will always be a reason someone like Seth Rollins can't successfully be the top guy. Even Dakota Kai, who we've all been negative about in someway, showed something impressive tonight because she was vicious. It's not necessary that heels are cool, it's that they can be vicious and violent, and that gets over. It's why Brock is Brock too. It's why Darby Allin is over in AEW.

                        • I get that Rhea and her team needed the win so Rhea could have momentum heading into Survivor series, but am I the only one who is bothered the team Bazler lost the war games match in what was pretty much a 4 on 2 situation with Bazler having the war games advantage? That makes them seem weak, tbh.

Also, so many heel turns from the women as of late. First Io, then Bianca, and now Dakota Kai.

                          Comment

                          • As mentioned, Bianca never turned heel, as she was never face.

And you're not the only person who has mentioned team Ripley winning with the 4-2 disadvantage, but none of these people seem to remember all the Survivor Series matches where the team who was down 4-2 came back to win. Overcoming the odds is a standard wrestling trope, and it's super effective when executed properly. This match set it up well. The other women were laid out, and mostly in the other ring. Shayna was caught with the handcuffs, and couldn't escape, so it led to Rhea getting the pin. Doesn't hurt anyone on that heel team at all.

                            • I'm with Pen, I think they actually handled the 4-on-2 bit pretty well and left it with a clear reasoning as to why Ripley was able to put Shayna away given the high impact moves wiping out Io, Bianca, and KLR.

KLR took an absolute beating in that match. MVP for me.

I liked the show, I didn't love the show, but I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say it was bad, either objectively or relative to other Takeovers. Riddle/Balor dragged maybe a touch for me in the first couple of minutes but then picked up. That was pretty much my only low point of the night.

                              • I thought the women’s War Ganes was match of the night. Dakota Kai instantly goes from bland to interesting and the match itself was very well done I thought. It was another showcase for Rhea and she delivered again.
