Ugh. If this is what WWE's going to be doing for big matches in the no fans environment, I'm out.
That was awful. It was slow, over dramatic, too produced, and featured both one of the worst spots and camera angles I've ever seen.
That Air Raid off the buckle to the floor would never be possible safely in front of fans AND poorly edited so why do it? Nothing else was so far you couldn't do it in front of an audience. Then there was Johnny taking the DDT on the boards where they chose the camera angle that showed him like six inches off the floor.
I despise this "cinematic wrestling" shit. That was not a professional wrestling match, nor was the story they told all that great. It looked cool, that was it.
And for the love of god wrestling needs commentary. It was really jarring to suddenly just fade to commercial with no warning, and having someone screaming at the top of their lungs about what was happening might have made it more exciting.
They're trying to make it feel like a "real fight" without anyone but the ref there, while putting on something obviously fake.
Given how much of Raw is already on a screen, I don't put it past them to keep doing this shit when they're allowed to fill arenas again, either.
It gave me a real appreciation for how good Taker and AJ are on a level that Gargano and Ciampa simply aren't. Taker an AJ, before everything devolved into shovels and druids, had a really good realistic fight without the need for a bunch of bells and whistles. This match needed a half dozen spots that should hospitalize a guy for weeks and every gimmick in the book.
