From the way it sounded, it was very much a "I can do this much for twice as long, or that much for half as long", and he wants to stick around longer rather than have a fleeting run on the main roster.

Sounds good for both him and NXT if he's going to stay there - also suggests that NXT is now much more of a 'third brand' than it is a developmental thing where people will have their cup of coffee and then move on.

I wonder if this methodology will change schedule expectations from the main roster. I don't have a business degree or knowledge of how much income live events bring in for WWE, but something has to give for all these live shows. Either book smaller house shows with reduced talent at the same schedule of shows (but easier for talent), or book less shows and maybe larger venues to sell more tickets? It's one aspect of WWE that feels dated.

But, I stress, I don't know the actual numbers. But I like that there is a brand for reduced shows that seems to have an influence on the other main shows.

I know that over the Holiday run in NYC, then now have 2 house shows, 1 for RAW and 1 for SD, and both have a hard time selling out, 1 at MSG and 1 at Barclay's. There used to be just 1.

Almost selling out MSG and BArclays for a house show is damn impressive. But those are outliers and shouldn't be used to decide how to run the standard house show schedule.

I remember all the early talk was that he didn't want to be/physically couldn't handle the main roster schedule. So how are the signs looking now he's been called up?

Yeah, he's got at least one bad knee, a neck surgery, and I'm pretty sure multiple previous injuries stemming back a decade to ROH. Plus he's got a baby girl at home. I could see why he'd have wanted to stay in NXT for quality of life reasons.

However, look at their current schedule. They've got six house shows scheduled so far this month, and two of those are probably split crews because they're on the same day juuuuuust close enough together to put Roman on the jet after the 5:00 p.m. show and get him in the main of the 7:00 p.m. one.

That's not too much road time for the guy. Two days a week, plus PLE's basically.

Plus I imagine he's had a pay rise which may not have mattered as much before he became a father but now it's probably more about earning as much as he can as quickly as he can.

I don't know how 100% reliable Cagematch is, but it seems to normally show house show matches that someone's had.

Since NXT Stand And Deliver, Ciampa's only worked three matches, all on main event. Considering there was a UK/EU tour in that period, as well as a couple of 'big' US house shows (I think they did one under the Saturday Night's Main Event banner, and a Sunday Supershow or something), that suggests that - to date - Ciampa hasn't been on the road in the traditional sense.
