    Sami Zayn

    Bit surprised there's no thread for him already, to be honest, but now he's the IC Champ I guess we can put that right.

    Anyway - I've heard better things about his work lately, probably for the first time since he was very popular in NXT.

      He's been a great smarmy heel. I genuinely don't understand the desire for him to be a babyface in any way. One of the most unlikable talents ever.

        Definitely great as the smarmy heel! Haven't even seen enough of him as a babyface to judge though.

          I think a lot of it fits in with how people may be conditioned to the Vince McMahon concept that only hosses/musclebound guys can be true badasses and can stand toe to toe with everyone.

          They booked him as a face as sort of a punching bag, so they got what they got.

            I really don't think it has much to do with that, because they've booked punching bags or underdogs without issue.

            It's really Zayn as a character. Even the run on NXT that gets praised, I find myself wondering if we watched the same show. He's just a lame weiner.

              Zayn's no longer the IC Champ. 'Unable to defend the title'. I think they're running a tournament or something to find the next champion?

                Sets up another "I'm the real champion since i was never defeated story" which could be really good for Zayn when he gets back.

                    When Zayn finally returns, he can be less slimy and more of an arrogant dick a la HBK to put in his claim for the IC title. This could be really good, if he is not a chicken shit heel.
