  • Not Jack Victory. I don't consider this person particularly obscure, but I watched A LOT of available territory stuff when I was younger. I can give a more concrete clue that will allow for zeroing in

    1) I have the same thing in common with both Ric Flair and Ole Anderson
    2) I am a decorated champion from the territory days, winning the top title in two prominent territories
    3) I am credited with a victory of Jim Hellwig
    4) I wrestled for two national promotions, never advancing beyond the mid-card of either except for one occasion.
    5) Despite the fact I wrestled for two national promotions, I did get national exposure on television through four of the promotions I worked for.
    6) My PPV record is 0-1

                • It wouldn't be Bruiser Brody?

                  • it wouldn't be Bruiser Brody, but he definitely worked quite a few of the same territories as the subject of the clues, in fact, my only Brody exposure was the same territory this person had their greatest successes (though that doesn't really help anyone else since that is a purely subject and BK-centric history)...I don't feel like this person is too obscure, especially if you watched NWA or WWF in the late 80s/1990, but I suspect he's more well-remembered in my mind than others.

                      • Nah, not JJ Dillon. I think I went a bit far afield on this one.

we’ll try this modification to clue 1

                        1) I have the same thing in common with both Ric Flair and Ole Anderson, which is tied to my time with NWA/WCW. This connection was all part of a doomed angle, for which there was no end game planned at the time of the plan’s conception.
                        2) I am a decorated champion from the territory days, winning the top title in two prominent territories
                        3) I am credited with a victory over Jim Hellwig, but I didn't actually beat him.

                        6) My PPV record is 0-1

                        • Ok, it’s Al Perez

clue 1 was in relation to the Black Scorpion angle. Perez portrayed the Black Scorpion in a main event match against Sting at a Clash. Flair was the payoff for the angle that was developed with no payoff and Ole both came up with the concept and voiced the character.

Perez held the heavyweight belts in Florida and Dallas

Perez won the World Class Texas Heavyweight strap from the Dingo Warrior via phantom title switch after Hellwig left for Titan

Perez wrestled as a midcarder in JCP/WCW notwithstanding the one main event match with Sting and as enhancement talent in WWF

Perez got national air with WCW and WWF, but also got national exposure through World Class and Global, which were both shown on ESPN

was part of the Tower of Doom match at GAB 88, he was on the losing end of that atrocity

Quit the NWA when asked to lose to Flair in Tampa. Left WWF on bad terms after an altercation with Pat Patterson over a comment Perez took offense to from Patterson (I’ll let you all look that one up) and then refusing to job to none other than the Ultimate Warrior

Perez really did have it all and both Dusty Rhodes and Gary Hart saw a lot in Perez
