  • Oct 9, 2019 : Who Won the Night?

Copying Prime's post from last week:

Might do this for a while, for a bit of fun. I don't want a reasoned argument taking into account various stats, or a number of factors, or what have you. I want your gut reaction, about which show you personally enjoyed more. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, for Wednesday October 9th, who won the night?

It was a closer call this week. I think my attachment to the stars and stories of NXT made me enjoy that show more, and it had the better wrestling.

But, while I truly hated the Dynamite opening tag match, I feel AEW put everything together better than NXT did. Things flowed better, they connected more pieces together, just better storytelling overall. I'll give AEW the nod tonight as I watch for stories more than wrestling.

Good work, Pen! Saved me a job.

Anyway, this is for people who'll watch either/both, so I'll let you guys carry on.

I thought the opening tag match in AEW was better than the Cruiserweight tile match by far. Yes it was mostly a spot fest, but it was much more entertaining.

Overall, AEW's show was better. NXT had a lot going on, but more of a "let's try to counter AEW" than let's go out there are put on a good show. Secondly, with the closing matches/segments of both shows. I was really looking forward to seeing Walter for the first time (not on youtube) and I was really disappointed. From what I have seen, very little mind you, and from what I have heard, I was looking for an amazing athletic performance from a big imposing guy. But I have to admit, based on my limited observation, Keith Lee, who is about the same size was much more impressive in his NXT match from last week, than Walter was. Now that is from only 1 match, but I am judging from 1 match each.

The closing match/segment from AEW was basically a rehash from last week, but it at least moved the story along, and made a face group to counter Jericho's Inner Circle.

Again I like AEW's 20 minute time limit, the fact that wins and losses matter, and that Jim Ross even stated that it was nice to see performers working over an injured body part during the Tag match, where the Bucks were working over the Party Planner's back (can't remember his name). AEW seems to be bringing back some old school wrestling.

Overall AEW was better than NXT last night, but the Star of the night goes to Rhea Ripley. That girl is going places. She is attractive which will take her far with endorsements, her wrestling look is great, and she can wrestle, she is big an imposing, and has a killer finisher.

Oops, didn't read that this for people who watch both before voting. I guess Dynamite wins because it enticed me to watch and NXT didn't! Though with WALTER in the main event I might have to at least check out that match...

They rushed the match. They didnt give it enough time to evolve and become what it easily could have. And Kushida made an uncharacteristic botch early on off the top rope. It was still a good match, but I hope they are allowed another chance and more time to do it proper down the road.
