AEW being the fresh new alternative was so golden that anyone who pointed out the flaws in the structure were ridiculed. I'm taking a personal stance here because it felt like most of the places I discussed wrestling on the internet, people became so divisive so fast, and now we're seeing the same thing behind the curtain in AEW like this was NWO wolfPunk vs NWO Elite. For the record, LOP was not one of these places. If anything, I think the people who enjoyed AEW left these threads because the criticisms weren't being pushed aside as a small minority.
In any case, Tony needs to be a boss. Vince's micromanaging turned off so many fans that they forgot why some sort of control was needed in the first place. Creatively and backstage, there needs to be someone in charge.Tony seems to have great creative ideas, but also seems to need a filter. He's no Vince Russo, but there still seems to be a need for someone assist.
In terms of being a boss, I haven't seen any evidence that he has that in him. It's hard to say since fans don't ever know the real picture, but from what we can tell, he's been too friendly with too many people and letting too many voices have a power play. It's WCW circa 1998-99.
It almost feels like Jericho should be involved more. I'm not sure his music career would allow him to spend more time in a backstage role, but he seems level headed and civil enough with everyone that he'd be a good fit. Of course, it doesn't need to be a former wrestler. Nick Khan was apparently a hatchet man for Vince, so I'm sure Tony could hire someone to fill that role.
TK is in a corner, and if he shows too much backbone now, the positives he brings to the table as a boss could turn around and no longer work. So I think someone to do the dirty work is needed. Tony shouldn't bow out by any means: I'm no AEW fan, but there's no denying he's got a lot of creativity and passion for wrestling. But he can't manage everything, and with creative being his strong suit apparently, then he needs a suit and tie to deliver fines, suspensions and firings.
As for the wrestlers and EVPs, I really don't know if there will ever be a straight answer as to who started the fight or who escalated too much too fast. I agree with Oliver in saying I understand why everyone is angry, but it doesn't excuse how they've unprofessionally dealt with their frustrations.
