John's Thoughts- My New Column

Hello there.
I am new on these forums. I am a huge WWE fan and have wanted to write a wrestling column for a long time. I am giving it a shot today, and I would love the feedback from all of you.

So lets get started...


The WWE's big Mistake


Yesterday's No Way Out shocked me and most of the wrestling world. The Ultimate Oppurtunist not only lost his WWE title, but won the World Heavyweight title later that night. The quality of the two elimination chambers were superb. I haven't seen such high quality gimmick mathces in a long time. Kudos to all involved.

Despite being the a candidate for Pay-Per-View of the year, I feel the WWE had made a big mistake, weeks before Wrestlemania. How many times do you want to see the titles change hands? Yesterday's title changes were exciting, but the belt loses prestige. If Triple H loses the belt at Wreslemania, it's not gonna be big deal. You know why? Cuz in the past few months, the WWE had titles so many title changes that I could care less who the champion was anymore.

One bright spot through all of this, was the emergence of Randy Orton. This guy is unbelievable. He is great on the mic, his wrestling is fantastic, and my girlfriend has a crush on him. (Since he's mad cool, I don't even mind)I was looking forward to (the new and improved) Randy Orton vs. John Cena at Wrestlemania 25. However, with the title changing hands, this is obviously not going to happen. What we are probably going to see, is another Orton vs. HHH match. COME the fuck ON!!! Does anybody want to see these guys go at it again. I am seriosly lost for words. How can the WWE, make us sit through another program between these two? How?


On the Smackdown side of things, the title picture is really up in the air. I would like to see Edge defend the title against Christian at Wrestlemania. This, however, is a pipe dream. For some reason, they screwed Christian and put him in ECW. ARRGH. Anyway, if that doesn't happen, I wouldn't mind Edge vs. Hardy vs. Hardy. It could be fun, but who knows. I love Matt Hardy, so seeing him in the main event would be tight.

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. John Cena
Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (please God make this happen,LOL)
Chris Jericho vs. [Insert Legend Here]
Christian vs. Jack Swagger (c)
Legacy vs. Shane and Vince
Money in the Bank: Morrison, Benjamin, Bourne, Mysterio, MVP, Punk, Kofi
And some filler: perhaps Big Show vs. Umaga

Dude I like the first part. Started promising however it abruptly stopped and I was a bit like "Hang On a second what just happened"


It needs to be longer. I'm not saying it needs to be Skaos long but still. Explain everything. Add some more points. If you can't do that explain to the reader and move onto another topic such as MVP or HBK etc.

First of all, welcome to the world of column writing.

Secondly, t'was really short. To short. You need to work on elaborating your thoughts. Giving your column headings isn't a must, as some can do a decent column without, but it can help. It looks drawn out and looks beefier. You mentioned that it was a terrible move to put Christian on ECW. Make a new heading and tell us, in detail, why. The place that needed the most help was the WM25 predictions. Tell us why you think that will happen, how that will happen, what events will lead up to the matches, who will win them, and add commentary of how you think that matches will turn out.

With all this said, you have a lot of room to improve, so I can't see what improvements you make for next time. Have a nice day.

I happen to think Christian on ECW is the best move WWE have made in a long time. I'd tell you why, but that would make my feedback longer than your column...so I may as well post my own. See the problem here?

Develop, develop, develop! Normally I'd say have a look at everyone else's work for pointers, but there's not a huge amount around at the moment. Take your time, construct your arguments, not only saying what your opinion is but why other opinions are not as valid. You make some pretty sweeping statements; that's great, but for them to wash you need to back them up.

yeah so normally when some new guy comes along and makes some horrendous posting mistake coupled with the posting of a "too short by far" column cries of "this sucks" are sure to follow.


how refreshing it was then to read a (legitimately, not just by comparison) excellent debut piece.


obvioulsy there are length issues but when your posting 2 pages of your thoughts (on microsoft word i'm guessng it's two pages) for the first time one doesn't always realize just how short their column really is.

This could just be me being fussy but isnt that usually only used in MSN ? Its much better to spell properly as it makes the column flow better.

Again, there wasnt many spelling mistakes but if you used Microsoft Word then that would of picked this up.

On the plus side, you seem to know what you are talking about, you just need to develop your ideas more (I struggle with this too).

So decent debut but just proof read your work and develop your ideas.

Welcome to column writing mate. Serious big props for giving this a shot. That being said alot of the people before me summed up my thoughts, so no point harping on on.

It was enjoyable, but for your next piece try and make it longer

Hey,

I'm not going to rehash what everyone else has said, although I do agree with most of the things noted here.

The thing I would say is that I'm happy to hear opinion pieces, but I'd like to see it in a larger context to link it all together. Perhaps you could base all of your opinions around a more specific theme? I think you perhaps tried to do this, but I was confused as to whether it was regarding Wrestlemania or No Way Out.

On the whole though, I think you have great potential. Keep it up and I think you'll find your niche eventually!
