Default AJ Styles Thread

What do you see him doing now that he won the Legend's Title?

Defend it with honour like he said he would on Impact a week ago. Just not at Lockdown as it looks like he'll be in Lethal Lockdown.

I see him holding the belt for a decent amount of time.

I'd love to see him defend it against every member of the MEM, and beat them all. AJ is the only guy outside of the MEM with enough credibility to hold a title called the "legends" belt, outside of Foley or Jarrett. He's arguably TNA's only original legend, as the others made their mark in other places before coming to TNA.

I'd really like to see a feud between Styles and either Angle/Sting/Foley with both the legends title, and the World Title on the line.

Defend it with honor pretty much. I just don't see it going anywhere. I'm not too big a fan of the legends title, even now that AJ (who's one of my favs of all time) has it, it's still kinda meh. Pretty much makes the X title look alot smaller than it already is

Im also not a fan of the Legends title quite yet, but the look of the belt is awesome. I dont think that the Booker fued is dead quite yet, so I see the belt changing hands between the two after Lockdown. I think it would be best to have the title go back and forth between them two for sometime in establishing the belt a little bit more.

I found it nice to hear AJ talk about the real TNA originals and kind of push off Rhino and 3D in a recent segment a few weeks ago on Impact. Maybe it was just words to fill up a promo or maybe a new direction of a new Front Line.

Aj Styles Is as his moniker says Phemoneal and I think by the end of 2009 he will hold the Tna world title again. I personally don't like this samoa joe/styles didn't we already see this in 05 with the same face and basically tweenner slash heel.

I disagree with that. I actually like Joe AJ because it will make it a bigger deal when they have to unite against Jarrett and Angle.

It also helps Joe because unlike Kevin Nash, AJ can work so it will make him look stronger.

AJ will also benefit because he will be able to put on the show we all know hes got and basically show that hes got the chops to lead after Jarrett bails.

These 2 are as they have feuded not that long ago '06, right? I understand why they (TNA) want to do it but it (this feud) is not going to help AJ out as much as him resuming his feud with Sting and Booker. Hell, I even liked the match he put on with Nash as I didn't believe Kevin could actually have a good singles bout with AJ. I just hope that TNA doesn't book Joe to easily hand AJ his ass..

Yes, they did fued in 2006, but this has a much more different feel to it. The fued hasnt even really taken its course yet and it already has a meaningful edge to it. Not to take anything away from the awesome fued that they had three years ago, but this just seems more bigger.

I much rather see AJ/Joe swapping the title and putting on a show then to see them carry a guy like Nash around the ring.

I think its cool sometimes when fueds arent always face vs heel

I wish AJ could just hurry up and end this feud with Booker T, because he needs to move onto bigger things.

Like feuding with Samoa Joe, which is clearly what's up next for him.

They've been there, and done that, and it was great.

However, it actually made sense back then. Them feuding with each other right now makes no sense whatsoever.

This is AJ's time....I can definitely see him winning the title by Bound For Glory. Dare i say Slammiversary. I know that this gets said every year at about this time, but the guy is gaining momentum.
Gears of War promo, Legends Belt, new video by Grits( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AVOScNWVL8 )....AJ is becoming the face of the company.

TNA is wasting his talents. I hope he dosn't get to money hungry because WWE would use him worse. AJ could be a legend if TNA would let him. As soon he seems like he is gaining steam tna bury's him again. Aj deserves to be in the title picture not putting people over. As long as the MEM runs TNA on screen and off he will be held down and so will TNA.

If WWE signs him then WWE will do something with him. If Vince isnt interested he wont sign AJ. Simple. Its not like AJ has no choice but to go to WWE.

Why are TNA continuing to f up? Once again, they have the talent but fail to use it properly.

Hopefully this storyline with Sting leads to big things for Styles. If booked right TNA could book him for Sting's retirement match, and it could be huge like Flair's retirement match.

It would be nice if they fight over the title and have sting drop it to aj in torch passing way.

For all of the screwed up bookings that TNA has done with AJ, a match with Sting as a means to pass the torch would erase all of it in just one night.

AJ Styles is now your new TNA world champion, and 4 time triple crown champion. And the way the match ended it looks like BFG main-event match will be AJ vs Sting which will most likely be title vs career.

If that match happens. Which it looks like a very good possibilty. That much will be the Flair vs Michaels match from Mania last year in being MOTY just for whats on the line.

Dude, how long have people on this message board been waiting for this....This was totally out of left field. No Surrender was a total waste until u realized what was about to happen at the very end of the show. It was like a movie where a guy gives up his life for the sake of another...This is awesome!!!

THIS IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Let me do my best internet Rick Flair impersonation....WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else kinda disappointed that AJ Styles signed a new 5-year deal?

I mean, I'm a TNA fan, and I enjoy the product, however i'd love to see him have a run in the WWE, as he's one of my favorite wrestlers in the world. The news kinda bummed me out a little, but I suppose he felt it was a good decision for him and his family.

Nope. I don't really have any interest in WWE. Watched Smackdown for the first time in ages on Saturday but eh. I'll probably continue to watch it, but it's whatever to me now,

Not really disppointed for the reasons you just highlighted. The curiousity factor of seeing him against certain wrestlers is still there, but I guess he has a sense of loyalty to TNA and they offered him a good deal.

I just hope his title run is something worthwhile. I want to se him truly be "Mr. TNA" and be the bell carrier for the company. I think he's a guy that kids could take to if TNA had another vehicle to market to the kids. TNA bring back the action figures and a saturday morning wrestling show.

I seriously doubt AJ would have done anything significant anyway. I would love to see AJ/HBK, but no way that would ever happen under close minded WWE. Ugh. Recent stuff just reeks of pushing older talents, something I have complained about TNA all these times. I am glad AJ is staying in TNA. As long as they keep pushing him that is. And Joe.

The curiosity factor is there, but in no way do I feel slightly disappointed. There's just too much uncertainty in the WWE. AJ could've been a main eventer in the WWE or he could've been a guy relegated to the ECW roster. Why take that chance when you have something good going for you and your family.

Im extremely happy at the signing. This signing shows that TNA is at least showing some signs of stability by giving Morgan and Styles long term deals. Dixie has stated on numerous occassions that she want guys like AJ and Morgan to be the face of the company and this could be an emphatic answer to anyone who has questioned where she stands.

I think that Brooklyn brought up a good point about AJ not only being the face of the company but becoming the type of star that kids can become familiar with. TNA definitely needs a face to get over with the kids and AJ could be that guy.

I don't believe it and if he did then he is an idiot.

I stand by my belief that in order to be considered the best wrestler in the world then you have to work for the biggest wrestling company in the world.

If I cant let Bryan Danielson slide on that one then I cant let Styles slide by on that one.

If you really believe the WWE would have signed him ad not made him a Main Eventer you really don't know much about wrestling. The WWE wont sign someone...especially someone getting paid as well as AJ...just so they could sign him. They know he has a huge fan base and a lot of potential...So the only real reason to sign him would be to capitalize on that.

There is a lot for him to do in the WWE...believe it or not. I also believe if he signs with the WWE within the next 3 years that he would have been THAT guy to make Vince see that smaller guys are just as good as the hosses he loves so much.

Why does he have to work for the biggest?

Fedor is seen as one of the greatest fighters and he hasn't fought for UFC. I don't see why the organisation matters at all

Fedor is seen as...but what happened when he didn't sign with the UFC? He wasn't given a pass...he got called out by every critic and every other MMA fighter in the world.

He joined a company for money...not the best competition. If all he cared about was being the biggest and best MMA fighter in the world he would have signed with UFC...where the talent is.

See where this is going?

The best are usually in the biggest promotion. No difference here. The workers in the WWE are better then the workers in TNA for the most part. There are a handful of expectations and AJ is one of them.

If his goal is to make money and nothing more then cool. But to be considered the best wrestler you have to work in the best organization IMO.

What if AJ just loves wrestling and couldn't care less whether he was wrestling in front of 900 people or 50000?

Nobody does anything for free. If he is cool with where he is at then its whatever.

I just don't know if I can trust a man who is fine with being content.

IMO he has potential to be one of the greatest wrestlers in a long time. IMO he will never reach that potential working with the wrestlers in TNA. They aren't that good and no matter how good he is he cant make their second rate wrestlers look on par with him.

I have seen everything he can ever do in TNA all ready. There are maybe 5 or 6 feuds he could have that I haven't seen before. Unless he wins the Knockouts title or Knockout tag title then he is just going to keep repeating the same shit over and over again.

If he went to the WWE there is room for him to become an even bigger star and to bring something new and fresh to the table.

I'm not some TNA hater like I come across. I have been watching them since their first show. When they had weekly PPVS. I want them to grow and to become a better company. In my head I have seen it all from AJ and everything else from this point out will pretty much be a rehash.

Growth in life is a good thing. Never trust a man who stands in the same place for too long.

I see your argument and it does make sense, but aren't there alot better wrestlers in the indies/Japan than in WWE/TNA?

I mean don't you normally find better matches there than what we've been getting recently from both companies?

You can but they are two different types of animals.

If you work for the WWE / TNA you have to be good at more then just wrestling. If you are wrestling on TV your job requires more then just wrestling. Wrestling is only half their job really. The other side is the entertainment aspect.

In Japan they have only recently begun to add entertainment aspects into their product and the ones doing it aren't the mainstream ones. The smaller feds are the ones who mostly do it. So you really cant compare Puro to the WWE either.

Now when it comes to matches...yea without question majority of the times my top matches will be outside of the WWE and TNA. But you have to realize that most of these guys only have to wrestle. The entertainment aspect is as important as it is for the companies with TV time. So these guys can go out there and go balls to the wall and wrestle every match like its their last.

When I think best wrestler I'm conditioned to think WWE because thats what we have all been fed over the years. When it comes down to it i believe it is true. At the end of the day these guys are here to entertain and make a buck and the WWE has been the best at doing it.
