Default BCR is Wrestling #18 - BCR 6:13 Say's FYT!

You started off obnoxious, loud, ignorant and generally annoying; but I marked for you anyway. I had heard a lot about how horrible you were and maybe that's why I could tolerate you. You were involved in so many great moments, being whipped by Beer Money was probably the best of them, but that's not because you were in pain, it was just because Beer Money is awesome. You weren't just a whipping boy for heels; you were heavily involved in the product. Other commentators just commentated, received a pay check and went home; you were better than that. You did your best to promote TNA home video online and on-screen, this would have got TNA a lot of DVD sales.

You slowly grew on me. Your voice, it was amazing. Not because you could make an awesome singer but because you were a ball of enthusiasm waiting to explode. You were the reason I kept on watching; not because you wrestled great matches and cut Kevin Nash like promos though. Your main asset was enthusiasm and it was fun, hilarious and even a bit sad watching you jump up and down when Homicide hit the Tope Con Hilo. When someone who has been watching the company since its beginning was still excited after all these years, how could I not be excited?

Hernandez, where would my fandom for him be without you? For a period time in September of 08, I looked forward to a Hernandez match. Not because I thought he was going to be a future world champion (at the time I didn't), but because each match you'd say one thing that would stick with me forever, "Crackerjack". I started paying close attention to Hernandez matches just to hear you say that word, you stopped after a while but I was hooked on Super Mex. For that, I thank you.

And then things changed. Someone had the nerve to cross you. Someone had the nerve to stab you in the back, that someone was Mike Tenay. Your job was in question and Tenay, someone who you have been friends with for over seven years didn't even defend you. All you did was stand up for yourself and you were the one who was called the bad guy. Sure, you may or may not have turned up twenty minutes late while being under the influence of alcohol, but were you to blame? No, I would be upset if a long time friend double crossed me.

In the end, you showed Tenay that you were professional. You didn't get bitter, you got better. Ever since your promo made Tenay the bad guy; you cranked up the humour, changed who your favourite wrestlers were and got in with the ladies! There’s absolutely no way your story about making The Beautiful People breakfast was a lie, it just had to be true! And while you were getting The Beautiful People, Mike Tenay was stuck with dreaming about Awesome Kong. What kind of loser dreams about Awesome Kong! You weren't only winning in the ladies department; you were slowly but surely winning over fans each and every week. As your popularity rose up, Tenay's dropped as you cleverly pointed out at an Impact taping.

SO WHY THE FUCK DID YOU HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO GO?

You were the best commentator around, maybe even the best thing in TNA, and then all of a sudden Tazz comes in and takes over! Why? He's in the middle of being Samoa Joe's advisor for crying out loud! Why couldn't that prick Tenay go? Why couldn't TNA try a three man commentary team? Why can't Tazz just fuck off? Tazz is a no good piece of shit who once wrestled for some shitty promotion before becoming a commentator in the WWE, does that give him the right to storm into TNA and replace you? NO! Tazz was never that great of a commentator anyway, his overuse of "here comes the pain" was painful to listen to. I now fear that every time Samoa Joe does something, even the slightest thing, Tazz will say "here comes the violence". Tazz was never good at being funny, you epitomize entertainment. No I’m starting to believe that TNA lacks logic.

Is it fair to be putting all the blame on Tazz? FUCK YES IT IS. When the greatest injustice all year, no, in wrestling history happens you blame as much people as you can. Calm down you say? I won't calm down, not until this injustice is reversed and Don West is back in my life. Who even said calm down? Who did I even ask that to? Why am I asking these questions? Am I going insane? That's irrelevant because right now, I've just been booked in to see Dr Stevie! He told me to come up with a catchphrase so I'll leave you with this:

BCR 6:13 Say's Fuck You Tazz!

I feel your pain; West is the 2nd best commentator in the game after Striker.

I'm almost speechless. This was emotional and justified. I feared West would be replaced by Tazz, but I never guessed it would happen this fast.

Nobody could have done this better than you did it, and you were the appropriate person, being our most famous columnist for writing on TNA. Stellar piece.

BCR,

I cried when I heard the news. West was one of my favorite parts of TNA every week. I was hoping that next week he would say something like "While I was having sex with Velvet Sky, she told me ODB is a tramp." This is a said day for West fans everywhere.

I couldn't agree with you more. Tenay and Taz will be as bad as Cole and Lawler, if not worse. Tazz, like Lawler, was only good as a heel commentator when he was bashing people. Maybe he will be a heel commentator, but he won't be as great as West was.

Just where do I sign up to the "FYT" forum?

Very strong column, BCR. I don't understand the change at all. I can understand adding Taz to the commentating team, but I don't understand why they didn't go with a three-man team. West has been really good since going heel, and I don't see why Tazz couldn't have played the "Bischoff" role for the TNA team; hell, West promotes pretty much everything the MEM does anyway, so it's a very strange move.

Well at least now he can focus on his Suicide obligations.

I liked it, but it felt a bit short man. Maybe it's just me, but I think you could've fleshed it out a bit more. What you wrote was strong, it just seemed to end a little abruptly for me. Probably just being picky though.

Overall, me like. Could've been better though, just my opinion. See ya next time home boy.

You know I don't watch TNA, but ever since the heel turn, I've heard nothing but good things about West. I think a 3 man announce team would have been best, but what do I know. Nice little column you got here.

Joe - Despite me having West as the best, you can replace is with was now.

Kano - At least JBL didn't get replaced because they found someone "better" then him. Oh, thanks for the idea

Lazy - Thanks for stopping by.

B Squared - Wow. Speechless, isn't that a bit much? Either way, thanks for the massive praise man.

Ca$h - It was getting so close to that man! It went from Twitter sessions to texting to breakfast, poor poor West.

Chrisss - Of course he'll be heel, he's aligned with the mafia. Either way, he doesn't have that antagonist type voice like West did so he won't be able to get under the skin of Tenay. Put it in your sig

Xan - What's even stranger is that Tazz is promising to train Joe and all that. He comes in, gets angry at Joe for losing to Super Mex before "training" him to beat Homicide. That's all he's done. I was looking forward to Tazz as Joe's manager but if that's all they had planned for him, what was the point?

Freeman - Don West as Suicide will live on (huh?). Maybe I could have made the "fuck Tazz" section longer, but the DW section was all I could muster from inside. I'm still kind of sad about his release, probably will be worse when watching Impact because it will seem so weird.

L-Man - At least you support Beer! Money!

Creeping - Those good things were very justified my man.

Thanks to everyone who read and a super thanks to Chrisss (lol at super) for joining FYT!!

Man Don West was the fucking worst I remember he would over sell everything. For Example, Sting punches Angle in the face, "HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PUNCH THAT POWERFUL MIKE TENAY; I KNOW I HAVEN'T IT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU HOW MUCH THESE TWO GUYS REALLY HATE EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!" Anyways after I while he sorta grew on me, I'm not really sad to see him go well maybe a little

Even though it was much shorter than what you normally produce, it was just as good. You got your anger out and more importantly, you got your point across. Very well written and I really liked the title. I hope your session with Dr. Stevie went well!

Maybe it's just a bad angle, but there is your "amazing commentator". Tazz was a good commentator in WWE and he can only improve this team. Good column though. Thumbs up.

Was this entire editorial a parody of typical, unreasoned fandom or do you actually believe your own weak excuses and arguments? If you were not being facetious, I would suggest in the future that you do not bring up points such as drunken lateness only to dismiss them as faultless. Likewise, lauding acts of appearing as an onscreen personality to promote live events and merchandise, when that is the person’s job, is ill advised.

It makes your glasses appear emerald green.

NTBL - He grew on me also; I was watching Smackdown today and it felt weird whenever there was a short moment of silence, Don west never gave us silence.

Andy - It didn't, Daffney wasn't there

Jett - That was obviously planned, I mean, why would you leave that in on a taped show! All kidding aside, he has improved greatly since then and in my time as a fan, nothing like that has happened. As for Tazz, aparently he was saying AJ shouldn't retire when he was just with the mafia, wtf! He also aparently called Robert Roode "Robert Room".

Rommel - The drunken lateness was all in kayfabe and meant to amuse, take that for what you will. He also does more then on-screen when it comes to promotion such as TNA's online shop. I also don't know what the last sentence means

UNC - The thing is, Tazz should be a heel since he was just with the mafia. Have Tazz pick on Tenay!

Tony - Will do.

very short from you, but i think your passion for this topic canceled it out. really enjoyed reading it, even though i dont agree w your position, especially after last night where i thought taz and tenay did a good job (well at least taz did). my opinion of commentators is there should be a strong face and strong heel, or more even keel commentators, like i feel taz and tenay were last night. this is y wwes commentating sux right now, cause everyone is trying so damn hard to be good that it makes me want to puke. anyways, a very nice job from you as usual and i hope you can continue to harnass this passion in your other columns, it will only help

Would you care to explain some of those things in your next article? I am not keen to guess.

Cult - I wouldn't mind the fact that Tazz and Tenay where so even if Tazz wasn't just aligned with the Main Event Mafia.

Rommel - Him appearing drunk furthered his heel turn and entertained at the same time. If I didn't like that, I would be ranting on West hitting on the ever so wanton Velvet Sky.

Ca$h - Not completely, the nation of violence was very cool while it lasted.

The news upset me too. I guess all good things come to an end which is why Tenay's still there and MEM are still on our screens.

I'm gonna miss West

Nice read though

It took TNA seven years to figure out what to do with Don West. They turned him heel and it worked, because I couldn't stand Don West before. He was partially the reason why I didn't bother to tune in. The last couple of months I started watching again, because there's not much on during the summer, and found myself finally liking West and TNA in general.

And without warning, he was gone.

When I heard Tazz replaced him, I was disappointed. I did figure that he'd be a heel as well, since he ran with the MEM. Nope. He was shaking Tenay's hand. He praised Homicide after a month of having Samoa Joe get ready to kill him. Quickly dismissed his relations with the MEM to Bobby Lashley.

He basically became what I hated about Don West for the past seven years. A stale face color commentator that agrees or repeats whatever Tenay says.

People seem to believe Tazz is a better commentator. He was one of the more over rated commentators in WWE, that would always screw up. Listen to the main event of the last Impact, he was a mess. He couldn't stop saying "Bubba".

Wishing thinking, but in a way I hope this is a work. Like during one of the brawls that go through out the entire arena, they discover Don West at a merchandise booth selling t-shirts and DVDs, his "promotion". Which leads to West becoming the third man and more of a heel than before.

Very passionate writing, BCR. I don't agree with you at all, as I didn't like Don West even when he turned heel. I think Taz has a very "real" (for lack of a better term) aura about him, and I think he'll likely add to the booth. I'm actually going to tune in next week simply out of curiousity.

At any rate, short and to the point, but interesting all the same.
