Default Divisions Question

Has there ever been a time in TNA when more than one division stood out/was focused on equally?

And another thing. Has the heavyweight division ever been the stand out division in TNA?

Since I've been watching I've seen the X-Division stand out alone..then I'm pretty sure it was the Knockout's which was then followed by the tag. The heavyweight has it's moments but I don't really remember ever being wowed by it minus a few matches here and there.

Finally a new topic for discussion...lol

I started watching TNA in 2005 and the Heavyweight division has never been as strong as it is right now. The Main Event scene still needs a makeover, but its good to see guys like Hernandez and Morgan to start to possibly get an opportunity. Kaz was kind of a wildcard last yr before his injury, but I think that TNA needs another wild card type wrestler who sorta shocks the world with a surprising title reign. The matches on the Heavyweight scene havent been memorable at all, but there has been some great build to some of the matches including:

Sting vs Jarrett BFG 2006
Sting vs Foley at Lockdown 2009 (match was meh, but the promos before the PPV was awesome),
Sting vs Joe at Bound for Glory,
Angle vs Joe at Lockdown 2008
Angle vs Joe at Genesis '06 right after BFG,
Sting and Angle have had a nice ongoing feud including their BFG match and the empty arena match.
Angle vs AJ
Angle Alliance vs Christian Coalition was interesting.

As you can tell.....A lot of Angle, Sting and Joe the last 3 years. It's time for a makeover.

I think that when I started watching TNA, the X-Division was the cream of the crop by far, but now I would have rank it as follows (based on whats going on now:

1. Main Eventers - Only because the MEM is dominating the airwaves right now
2. The Angle Division....yes he has his own division
3. Knockouts
4. Tag division

5. X-Division

6. Mid Carders

lol @ the Angle division.

I didn't count midcarders simply cause it's somewhat non existant.

I will say you did forgot Jarrett/Angle though. Their match was pretty epic.

MEM may be dominating the airwaves, but there's nothing "shocking" or there's nothing to tell another wrestling fan to check out there. You coulda got someone into wrestling by showing them the X-division. The tag division have put on some great matches in recent times along with the knockouts somewhat giving female wrestling a "new face" in terms of major promotions.

Nice call...Jarrett and Angle had a great build and they had a very good technical match...Foley being the Special Enforcer made it even better. They had one of my best matches of 2008.

Kaos...thats a great point that you made about the "wow" factor that the X-Division could bring. One of the main reasons why I started following TNA was because of all the cool things that the guys in the X-Division did.

I heard some rumors that TNA and SpikeTV are trying to work out something to actually get the X-division their own show. I dont have any specifics on that though.

I have been watching TNA for about four months now, and I just can't get into it like I do WWE. I heard so much about the X-Division, but I don't see that. Has it always been like this or have died it down?

You missed the good days man. back with Joe/Styles/Daniels. Back when we had the good Ultimate X matches. Petey Williams, Chris Sabin. Now people just come and go into the division as they please.

These past 4 months there hasn't been really anything going on. I mean Sabin/Shelley had a good match earlier in the year but that was about it I think. The King of the Mountain match [X-Division] was enjoyable too.

You missed out the good days so if you wanna see what people were talking about, there's stuff on youtube. You could ask for suggestions here if you don't know where to start.

If the X-Division returned to it's former glory, I can assure you that there would be a few people unhappy with the lack of pyschology being displayed. The main eventers deliver when it comes to promo's and making me care, more so then any other division (except for the tag division depending on what's happening), that's why I like them the most.

Quick question. Since TNA doesn't have a midcard, what would you guys consider Matt Morgan, Hernandez and Abyss?

TNA have the Legend title. Thats their midcard title. All they have to do is have Foley drop the title to Morgan and have Morgan feud with Abyss for the title, Abyss wins it, and have him feud with one of the BEer Money, and so on and so on.

I question the logic of having Morgan winning the legends title and then feuding with Abyss.

Drifters. they drift from feud to feud without any real meaning.

i do believe that they should get a midcard title. like drop the legends belt and get like a TV title or something of that sort.

TNA has 3 main problems.

The main event is turning into a giant cluster fuck. the main event shouldnt be all one feud. it should be scattered feuds. not this big gang war. the gangs arent even the problem. its that no 2 people can have a good feud because you have one guy from feud A interfering with feud B. separate the feuds.

The X division lacks depth. i remember the old days where everyone was a contender for the title, and we got a different flavor every month. now we get the same guys doing the same thing every month. sort of like the main event. rotation rotation rotation.

3/4 of the roster is involved somehow with one of the three gangs. the only ones i can think of that arent is Abyss, Homocide, Dr. Stevie, Rhino, Cody Deaner, Suicide, some of the knockouts and thats about it. You've got Joe, Kurt, Steiner, Tazz, Booker, Nash, Traci, Sharmell, and Jenna and Morgan in the MEM. Then you've got Daniels, Foley, Lashley, Styles, Sting, Beer Money, Team 3D, The Motor City Machine Guns, Lethal Consequences and now Hernandez the Frontline thing. And you've got Bashir, Young, Kiyoshi, and The British Invasion in World Elite. that is 29 people involved in 3 groups. condense. The Mafia can do without Joe and Tazz. Keep Joe Heel and send him to destroy the X-Division, Circa 2005. same with Daniels and the Motor City Machine Guns. Or you can keep the groups together, but have them feud with different people. They got Joe going for the X Division title. But he hasnt had any interaction with Homocide. He's too involved in the Frontline/Mafia/World Elite feud. and Homocide isnt even involved with any of them. The Tag team feuds are fine, they are feuding with each other, and only with each other. Kurt is supposed to be involved in a feud with Sting, but yet he keeps fighting with Lashley and Foley.

I'm not Bashing TNA. they have variety. its just i cant get into a feud if the feud gets ignored for a week and the people involved in the feud are wrestling other people who are involved in other feuds.

Even though Morgan isn't a legend, winning the legends title would be a step back for him.

I know it's just a name. The fact is that winning the legends title would be a step back for Morgan even if the title was called the TV title, the Impact title or the fairy title.

I don't think it would be, unless he actually wins the TNA World Title. That's the only way to me, it would be a step back.

I personally think he should go after that title, if he doesn't make it into, or win the M.E. at Hard Justice. He's never really had any sort of title reign, and it would be good for him. He could take it and rename it to something a little less boring.

I just don't see Morgan as a champion. He doesn't have that "Champion Swagger" like Kurt Angle or steiner/booker. He yells and screams and whines like a 4 year old, instead of being calm and collected. Until someone calms him down and shuts him up, Morgan won't win any title.

As I said in another thread, the whole predictability in wrestling is somewhat sad. We need new things. "Championship swagger" only limits people being champion despite the fact that that guy is clearly better than someone who can't go anymore but has the so called "swagger"

I'd call the yelling the excitement being hungry.
