"So tell your boyfriend, if he says he's got beef, that I'm a vegitarian and I ain't fucking scared of him!"
-3Oh!3, Don't Trust Me It's that time of the week again! Fuck work, fuck life, fuck girls, fuck all that. Take a few minutes to relax and enjoy another edition of BEYOND THE WALLS. I am once again your host, Super Chrisss, whether you like it or not. If you're wondering what's up with the random song quote, and what it has to do with today's column, the answer is nothing. Actually, that's not totally true but you'll see what I mean later on. In the meantime, check out, no fuck that, DOWNLOAD the song if you haven't heard it yet, because it's really amazing. Anyways, fucking and music aside, let's get things started today with several reasons why last Friday night's Smackdown! was the best show on television last week, narrowly beating out ECW and Big Brother on Thursday. Dolph Ziggler is in the middle of the biggest push of his career. No, this isn't Fact or Fiction, it's the truth. We got an appearance from Ziggler not once, not twice, but three times on Smackdown! last week. The best part was, it wasn't overkill, unlike Cryme Tyme, who shouldn't be allowed more than five minutes of TV time per week. Anyways, Ziggler is definitely on a roll. Not only did he emerge victorious from his fued with The Great Khali, but he won most of their matches and ALMOST managed to kill Khali's credibilty. Who saw that coming? Now that he's done with Khali, Ziggler has moved on to shorter but bigger things. From literally banging Maria in Teddy Long's office, to getting a win over the proclaimed future main-eventer John Morrison in singles action, as well as closing the show by helping Edge and Jericho attack Rey Mysterio, Ziggler had one hell of a night. By maintaining an impressive winning streak, as well as a freakin' hot diva by his side, and inserting himself into the IC title picture, Ziggler is getting one hell of a rub on Smackdown! and seems to be the guy who will fill Egde's boots for the time being. It's pretty hard to imagine that the same guy was being squashed by Batista on Raw not that long ago. God Bless Smackdown! Speaking of the Intercontinental Championship, how great was Mysterio and Jericho's match last week? When the World Heavyweight Championship isn't the main focus of the show, that's when you know you're not watching Raw. Seriously, how cool was it to see the Intercontinental title being defended in the show's main event? If Jericho and Mysterio haven't brought back at least half of the title's prestige by now, then I don't know what will. It was definitely a change of pace to see two guys not actively involved in the World Title hunt be given almost thirty minutes to headline a show. Edge and Doplh Ziggler's post-match attack really made the IC title feel that much more important, and really shook up the title picture. Will Jericho get another rematch at Night Of champions? Or will Dolph Ziggler continue his monster push and face Mysterio instead? It's a shame Raw isn't booked the same way. As much as I love Kofi Kingston and guys like MVP and THE Brian Kendrick, there's no way in hell a United States Championship match will main-event a Raw anytime soon, unless Cena decides to fued with The Miz or The Big Show over the B-belt. Then again, how many times did Hulk Hogan challenge for the Intercontinental title? That's what I thought. The Jeff Hardy/CM Punk fued is on fire!!! One thing I have noticed is that this whole fued is quite reminiscent of last year's Shawn Michaels/Chris Jericho rivalry. Think about it for a second. Once Michaels stopped fueding with Batista (probably because Shawn doesn't like working with idiots), he and Chris Jericho got into a war of words about whether Shawn's leg injury was real or not. Jericho was convinced that Michaels was faking it, and while trying to prove his point, was booed by the fans in the process, even though Jericho ended up being right. Jericho was slowly turning heel but played the tweener role perfectly. It wasn't until Jericho threw Michaels into the Jeritron 5000 and injured Michael's eye that Jericho finally completed his heel turn. The two would then go on to have one of the best fueds of this decade, all the while putting on some amazing matches. You see the similarities? Much like Shawn Michaels, CM Punk seemed to suffer a serious injury in his match against Jeff Hardy, but was able to keep the World Title because of it. This time, however, the roles are reversed. Rather than siding with Punk, the fans have decided to turn on him because they believe he feigned his eye injury in order to keep the World title, and the kiddies love Jeff Hardy. Punk has become a tweener ever since he defeated Hardy to win the title at Extreme Rules thanks to his Money in the Bank contract, but now he appears he's on the way to a full-fledged heel turn. Much like Chris Jericho last year, Punk has logically explained his actions, and there should be no reason to boo him. However, the fans liked Shawn Michaels more than they did Jericho, and they support Hardy alot more than they do Punk. If the WWE decides to continue on the same path as last year by turning Punk totally heel in one night after an inexplicable action, such as Punk going all Matt Hardy on Jeff by killing his dog or something of that nature, then there's no reason that Punk's rivalry with Hardy won't solidify him as a main-eventer, with or without the World Title, much like Chris Jericho last year. Their match at Night Of Champions is already a good reason to dish out the forty bucks and order the show. Oh, and what the fuck is 'up' with R-Truth? He goes from being this fun-loving, happy guy to some retard in a mental instituition. I don't get it. Is he still a face? Is he going to be Smackdown's new comedy act? It's all very strange to me. So with R-Truth talking like an idiot, Cryme Tyme providing us with 'comedy relief' (if you call that funny), and Shelton Benjamin and Alicia Fox drafted to different brands, it appears that Michael Hayes is hatin' once again on the colored folks. You heard it here first, by the way. Sooo long story short, if you're not watching Smackdown! nowadays, then what the fuck is wrong with you? Anyways, I mentioned earlier how music somehow ties into today's column, and I am no liar. Maybe in real life I lie, but not here, I swear! Today's column is all about the music, so let me start off by saying... FUCK TRIPLE H & FUCK BEYONCE ![]() ![]() First things first, let me set the record straight. Countless times people have compared the WWE to movies or television shows. Those same people believe that both are very similar because everyone involved are actors, follow storylines, and entertain their audience. While I don't disagree with this idea whatsoever, I believe that many people are missing the bigger picture. Music and the music industry are much more related to wrestling than films and TV shows could ever be. Don't believe me? Let me explain. As I clearly stated above, many people (myself included) have often been pissed off at Triple H, or Hunter Hearst Helmsley, for one reason or another. Whether it be because he's always the champion, or because he's holding other talent back, many people have found a reason to dislike him, therefore they say 'Fuck Triple H'. However, in the music industry, many people feel the same way about bands and musicians. For example, Beyonce, a.k.a. Beyonce Knowles, has a pretty strong fanbase all over the world, but much like Triple H, she also has her fair share of haters. Alot of music-listeners are fed up of always hearing her songs on her radio or continually seeing her music videos on VH1, so they too say 'Fuck Beyonce'. So basically, for every person that says 'Fuck Triple H', there's someone who also says 'Fuck Beyonce', and vice versa. Triple H and Beyonce aren't the only masters of their respective profession who recieve mixed reactions from their audiences. John Cena and Jeff Hardy are two wrestlers who are loved and hated by roughly the same number of people, but maintain their high popularity nevertheless, whether it be through ratings, fan support, or merchandise sales. In the music industry, Kelly Clarkson and Lil' Wayne are two artists who have more than their fair share of critics, but sold-out concerts and platinum-selling albums keep them on top of the charts and make them even more of a household name. Triple H and Beyonce have another characteristic in common - they have both been accused multiple times of holding back younger superstars and artists. It's pretty well known among these forums that Triple H has a reputation of squashing mid-card talent and killing any momentum they were gaining, so I won't go into any more details. In the world of music, Beyonce can also be blamed for preventing other artists from 'making it big' by always being on top, whether it be through record sales or radio airplay. When Beyonce releases a new album, it's almost a guarantee that all of the 'newer' bands and artists won't sell as many copies of their stuff than Beyonce. Even if they seem to have a larger fanbase than Beyonce, or if their songs have more meaning and power than Beyonce's, that is all deemed irrelevant once it's time to go shopping for music, because most people end up buying the Beyonce album for some reason. The local HMV or MusicWorld or wherever you buy your music will likely have case upon case stacked with Beyonce CD's, while it would be much harder to find an album from a lesser-known band such as Carolina Liar, let's say (definitely worth checking out if you're into Christian-Rock, by the way). Also, many radio stations will play a Beyonce song so damn often that it's normal for some people to close the radio entirely out of frustration of always hearing the same artists and the same songs. The same can be said for wrestling; some fans have completely boycotted Raw because they're fed up of seeing the same guys in the main event fueding with the same guys they were fueding with last year. It's like a parallel universe. Members of both profession also share a common way of reaching the top: through the use of managers. In wrestling, Mr. Fuji led countless superstars to success, including Don Muraco, Demolition, and Yokuzuna among others. While most superstars nowadays don't require managers to become popular, many of the current main-eventers were once accompanied by managers in some point in their career, which undoubtedly helped them get over. Triple H had Ric Flair, Jeff Hardy had Lita, the Undertaker with Paul Bearer, and so on. In the music industry, it's a little bit different. Without the right manager and proper record deal, most artists aren't going to go very far. Many of us hate having our radios clogged with Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and Pink, and there's no doubt that these artists' managers are paying extra money to have their clients' songs be played more frequently than other artists. It may not seem fair, but it's the way it is. Mr. Fuji was never legally allowed to throw salt in superstars' eyes in order for his client to win the match, but he did it anyways. Both wrestling and music managers will do whatever is best for their client and get them over with the audience any way imaginable. Many people in the wrestling and music business often ponder about the future of their companies. In the wrestling world, guys like John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, and countless others are starting to out-perform some of the current main event stars and it's simply a matter of time before they themseleves reach the same status. Another guy that I could have mentioned is CM Punk, but in my mind, he's already earned himself a fixture in the Smackdown! main event for the foreseeable future, which is awesome, even more so that Punk is a relatively young guy. As far as the music industry goes, I'm quite pleased to see that two of my favorite bands are finally gaining alot of mainstream exposure in North America. 30h!3, who I quoted at the beginning of the column, have only been around for two years or so, and they're already atop the Billboard Mainstream Airplay Countdown, beating out huge artists such as the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, and Beyonce, among many others. Shinedown, who as you may remember performed the theme for Night Of Champions 2008 with "Devour", is currently #1 atop the Adult Top 40 chart with their second single, "Second Chance". Not bad for a group who couldn't get any radio airplay whatsoever a year ago! As you can see, the Beyonce's and Triple H's of the world can't stay on top forever. There's just so much talent out there hungry to make a name for themselves, and they will one day. All that remains to be seen is whether their time will come sooner or later. Evidently, the wrestling world and the music industry aren't as different as you might think they are. For every mid-carder that Triple H pedigree's to the bottom of the card, there's an artist getting less and less airplay in favor of more time for Beyonce. However, one thing to keep in mind is that just because someone is insanely popular at the moment, that does not necessarily mean they'll still be main-eventing Raw or topping the Billboard charts ten years from now. As much as wrestling and music veterans hate to admit it, their time will one day come to an end, and someone must be there who's ready to take the ball and run with it. There are plenty valid reasons for disliking Triple H, but if you can't blame Beyonce for almost the same reasons, then who are you to judge anyone, whether it be in wrestling or from the music industry? .................................................. . Damn straight! That's lucky number 16 done and done. I apologize for not posting on Sunday, my usual day, but I had to study for my driving exam, which I finally passed! Just think, in one year Super Chrisss will be riding a Honda Civic down the streets of Montreal, bro. Can you dig that? Before I go, I just wanted to congratulate my homie JohnnyBoomerang for winning June's COTM. Well deserved man, I can't wait to see what you'll come up with for the main page. I know some of you reading right now are still pretty new to the forums and are unsure what to read first, so let me help you out a little. Fuck Beyonce, Go Triple H.
You made some interesting comparisons here Chrisss however I don't feel that they paid off well. When people argue that Triple H holds people down, they usually bring up the arguement that he has some sort of creative control. Beyonce wouldn't have control over whether her music gets played more then others, her manager might advertise her better but that's the way it goes when people demand to listen to her music I guess. Was still a fun read Chrisss and very thought provoking.

Good solid column Chrisss, I liked your opinions they were well thought out and well put down. I liked your thoughts on Ziggler I think he is in one hell of a push right now and I'm liking it, Smackdown has been a good show to build superstars, Dolph and Morrison are clear examples. Smackdowns booking has been top notch, pity that its on a bad network.
Read you next time

Lol Chrisss I agreed with everything you said about last Friday's Smackdown! I thoroughly enjoyed that show, even if the abundance of wrestling is leading to some samey-samey finishes over the weeks. I've given up on predicting winners in John Morrison matches, as it makes no sense. Goes over clean on CM Punk but loses to Ziggler, Jericho & Edge...hmmm...
I like Word Up. Gives us a great chance to see Eve's lovely milk duds. The R-Tooth thing was a bit weird...he was in the middle of a small-push as well (ie only jobbing every other week) and I'm curious as to where that's going. Was fucking funny though..."My government name is DELICIOUS!" Class. Didn't really agree with the main point, that Beyonce holds back other 'talent' in the same way Triple H (supposedly) does. As has been mentioned, it's not Beyonce's decisions on who plays what on the radio. On BBC radio it's strictly regulated, so only one of her songs is played per 3 hour slot. Hardly despotism. Besides, real music fans don't listen to the radio or only buy what the media tells them to, as very rarely is it the best out there. (wrestling eg- Bryan Danielson) A really well-written column anyways. Nice lay-out and easy to follow. Some repetition in the main body I think, and a few errors here and there, but nothing drastic. Great stuff man. Last edited by Petre Dyche; 07-14-2009 at 03:50 AM. |

Interesting points, and a solid column.
I'll still go on record to say Film > Music, and that i could probably draw more comparisions with Film and WWE, but still, it was an interesting column nonetheless. And thanks for the congrats! |

Firstly, congrats on passing your driving exam Chrisss.
I completely agree with you, Smackdown is awesome at the moment as was Jericho vs. Rey. Interesting comparison between Triple H & Beyonce but I would have to agree with BCR as many people say HHH is on top because he's shagging Stephanie whereas Beyonce doesn't have much creative control in comparison. Other than that really solid column. Read you next time mate |

Music > Film. Or Film < Music. Either way, I disagree with JB's feedback!
Anyway, your column: Good, I like your writing style and I loved that you've started loving on Ziggler since I said he was you! You're quite right about Smackdown, although give Cryme Tyme their due, Shad managed to show hints of actual charisma this week. As for the music comparison... I loved it! I agree that, at times, it felt a little stretched, but it was definitely an original idea that I thought you did pretty well with. In short, Mylee like!

Congrats on passing your re-take bro. Those Montreal driving bastards must've shit themselves after all my threatening letters, enough to pass you, so I'll be taking the credit for that one...
Lol just kidding, I'm sure you're a good driver and that you deserved to pass. Dude, you like Big Brother? I hope you're referring to Canadian Big Brother or something other than UK Big Brother, because our version is the biggest pile of shit on TV at the moment. Like I said before, I'm a fan of Crime Time so no way should Crime Time only be given five minutes of TV time every week, at least make it ten dude! The thing is, Beyonce couldn't give a shit about whether she's holding down younger talent or not, as long as she's making money, she doesn't care. Although Triple H probably doesn't care about holding down younger talent, he should, because it's more beneficial to his family's business in the long run. Good effort though mate, catch you for numero 17.

Feedback time already? All work and no play makes Chrisss very tired
but oh well...Box Car Rocco - You're totally right dude. Maybe she does have some pull with her mananger or record company for all we know, but that can't be confirmed. I guess I was being biased because I hate Beyonce, so don't blame me! Uncle Joe - LOL, lol, and Lol! Thank you for agreeing with 95% of my column - it's greatly appreciated! Kano - I'm glad you see it my way then. Smackdown is THE place to be, but not on MyNetwork TV! Thankfully I get replays on Saturday afternoons ![]() Petre Dyche - I agree, JoMo will likely win a Slammy for the weirdest push of the year, that's for sure! I DON'T like Word Up! but to each his own, I suppose. You're right in your argument, I was just coming up with a conspiracy and trying to support. I'm glad you enjoyed it all the same! JohnnyBoomerang - Knowing you, you'd probably prove me wrong, but then again, maybe not! Thanks for reading and you're welcome! Pinky - Thanks man. It was a pain in the ass all three times, trust me! It's all good, I wasn't expecting everyone to be on board with my theory, so no worries! Thanks for the feedback. MyLeeCyrus - At least someone's on my side lol! Cryme Tyme was one of my favorite tag teams a few years back, but I grew tired of them after awhile. Sorry, but that's how I feel! Anyways, thanks for the comments, and Ziggler is definitely growing on me (or in me, if you prefer). Jason Boy - Good to know dude! Anyways, I'm glad you liked the comparison and thanks for the feedback as always! Freeman - Hahaha you definitely played a part in my success so many thanks to you man! I'm talking about the U.S. Big Brother - I didn't know there were others lol! You can like Cryme Tyme all you want, but I'm tired of them, my apologies. As for Beyonce, that just makes her even more cold-hearted in my eyes. Anyways, thanks for the feedback bro! |

Quote:
As others have said, Chrisss, I think this comparison was far-fetched at best. Not that it was poorly written--because it was quite good--but Triple H and Beyonce are not at the top for the same reasons. Beyonce has mass appeal, and even though I don't like much of her music, she has proven herself in terms of record deals/sales and radio plays. It is also very true that people who really like music don't listen to the radio--they just buy what they want and listen to that. Triple H (allegedly) holds down his competition because of his "in" with Creative--so he has much more say in the matter than Beyonce (or anybody in the music industry, really). This has pretty much all been said, but I'd be doing a injustice to my profession if I didn't say it myself. Long story short, good work, sir. --Leonard

Looks like you covered the 'Fuck Triple H' section that I had planned for my next column
. I liked this Chriss, but to be honest, I didn't think it was as good as your last piece. Don't get me wrong, the first section about Smackdown! was great and I couldn't agree more with what you said. However the last section didn't really interest me as much, maybe because I'm not that in to music. Your theory about Beyonce being the 'Triple H of music' is interesting and I get where you are coming from. The grammar and spelling was very good for the most part and you are continuing to improve. I'll be back for the next, that's for sure. Good job in FoF by the way. |

Leonard - You said it, not me, man. That kind of logical reasoning makes my column seem like a load of BS, so next time keep your feedback to yourself, alright? Hahaha I'm just kidding, I figured you of all people would dissect my conspiracy better than everyone else, and you proved me right. Thanks as usual man.
SUPERFAN! - I understood about 15% of that, but I think you were telling me you liked my column. If so, thank you very much homie, and you keep on not hatin'! Andy - Sorry if I fucked up your column man. No worries man everyone has their own opinion so it's all good. Oh, and thanks, I hope I didn't sound like too big of a prick in FoF!
