Default (CSI) Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality - by Ry_P, Sean_Taylor, & Skaos

VIDEO RECAP
No Way Out 2009
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we cannot apologize enough for the disruption and the chaos this has caused….”
“These unruly thugs have taken over our PPV J.R! Who is Ring of Honor anyway?”
“I don’t know King but I am sure we will find out in due course”

Raw – Two Weeks Later
“Cole, those thugs are back again! Get some security out here now!”
“Too late King they have scampered out of here rats.”

WrestleMania 25
“CM Punk! Can he realize his dream for the second year in a row?!”
“No one is near him Cole, he must grab the brief…wait a minute, WAIT A MINUTE!”
“King, isn’t that one of the Ring of Honor cretins…?”
“Yes it is Cole, he has no business here…HE JUST STOLE THE MONEY IN THE BANK BRIEFCASE…they can’t do this…this is a disgrace!”

Raw - April 6, 2009
Raw kicks off with World Champion John Cena being introduced for a promo talking about his hard fought victory at WrestleMania. He is quickly interrupted by Chris Jericho who says Cena is blind to the real issue at hand Jericho tells Cena that recently a “group of wrestling nobodies” had infiltrated the WWE and ruined his creation, the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, as well as risked the safety of the WWE superstars involved in the match. Jericho changes tone and says that he suspects CM Punk allowed this to happen.

Punk comes out and confronts Jericho saying that he had nothing to do with Hero stealing the briefcase and then vows to get back the MITB briefcase. Suddenly, unfamiliar music plays and the ROH roster led by Nigel McGuinness step out onto the entrance platform. McGuinness says the WWE started this by ejecting them from No Way Out and they are tired of the WWE ruining the wrestling business. McGuinness claims that ROH has the better athletes, better matches, and better wrestling and “it’s about time the WWE fans saw what real wrestling is”. McGuinness says that ROH is challenging WWE to prove that their wrestlers are worth the term “superstars”.

Chris Hero takes the microphone and taunts Punk calling him a “sellout”. Hero claims that if he cashed in the briefcase for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship, his title reign wouldn’t end up being a joke like Punk’s was. Hero then challenges Punk to a match at Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality. where he will put up the MITB briefcase as the prize to the winner. Punk accepts.

Jericho begins to chastise Punk for even entertaining the idea of allowing the “amateurs” onto their PPV. Jericho is quickly interrupted by Austin Aries who says Jericho is an empty shell of his former self. Jericho laughs it off and reminds Aries that he was the 2008 WWE Superstar of the Year and Aries replies “that’s like saying you’re the smartest gorilla in the zoo”. Infuriated, Jericho says that Aries wouldn’t last ten minutes in the ring with him. Aries says he could last thirty. Jericho says he’ll grant Aries’ wish and challenges Aries to a thirty minute Iron Man Match at Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality.

McGuiness takes back the microphone and talks directly to Cena. McGuiness says that Cena is a mockery of the sport of professional wrestling. McGuiness says that Cena is “what’s wrong with the business what with flashy gimmicks and straight-to-DVD movies”. McGuiness challenges Cena to a match to find out who is the best champion in the business today. Cena replies, “If you want some, come get some!”

SmackDown – April 10, 2009
Thirty minutes into the show, “American Dragon” Brian Danielson walks to ringside and takes the microphone. Danielson says that while he holds no personal resentment to the WWE, he does agree that ROH has the superior talent. He says what better way to make an impact than to challenge the biggest WWE name he could – The Undertaker. Danielson gives Undertaker one week to respond.

Later in the night, Jeff Hardy is involved in a match with Matt Hardy. The Briscoe Brothers walk down to ringside to do guest commentary. They mock how the Hardys have allowed petty jealously to come between them. The Briscoes lay out a challenge for Vickie Guerrero for her two best tag teams to face themselves and El Generico & Kevin Steen in an Ultimate Endurance Match. As they leave, Jeff throws Matt out of the ring and Matt lands on Jay Briscoe. A brawl ensues that gets split up by WWE officials.

After the commercial, Matt bursts into Vickie’s office and demands she do something about the ROH guys. Vickie explains the challenge the Briscoes had issued and says that she can’t have SmackDown back down from a challenge. Vickie says that she hopes Matt and his brother can co-exist because they will be one of the teams in that match. Matt refuses but Vickie threatens to fire him if he doesn’t.

In the last segment, Edge comes out to host The Cutting Edge. He calls down El Generico and Kevin Steen. He asks if Steen knows who the final team will be in the Ultimate Endurance match. Steen says “no” and then Steen and Generico are attacked from behind by Christian. Edge and Christian each hit Steen and Generico with a One Man Con-chair-to before SmackDown goes off the air.

Raw – April 13
(Due to ROH storyline, the WWE Draft has been postponed until May 4)

The show starts off with Randy Orton in the ring demanding a title match. He is interrupted by Tyler Black who gets right into Orton’s face. Black says that being a son of Hall of Famer doesn’t mean you get what you want and that respect is earned not a right. Orton yells back and slaps Black across the face. Black hits Orton with a crescent kick and leaves.

After Beth Phoenix wins her match, Santino gets on the microphone and badmouths Ms. Chif for calling in on Larry King. For the next Raw, Santino challenges Ms. Chif to match. Beth then says she will defeat Ms. Chif at Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality. and prove that she is the dominant women’s wrestler in wrestling today.

Later, Degeneration X is backstage hocking their new merchandise. Triple H brings in Melina to model their new t-shirt but he notices something on the back. Melina turns around and we see “AOTF” spray-painted on the back of the shirt. Michaels gets worked up and says that this is a travesty and is going to the ring to find out who “AOTF” is.

Back from commercial, DX walks to the ring and does their normal pyrotechnic intro. Michaels demands to know who thought they could rip off the DX gimmick of spray-painting things. Triple H makes mention that they ripped it off from the nWo. DX starts to joke back and forth when Age of The Fall (Jacobs/Delirious) walk onto the ramp with Alison Wonderland dragging Melina by the hair. Jacobs says he’s sick and tired of DX ruining the minds of society with dick jokes and potty humour. Wonderland whips Melina into the Raw set and beats her down. Jacobs looks at Triple H and demands DX face them at Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality. to atone for their raunchy behaivour or “that will happen to a certain Raw GM”. Triple H guarantees they will be there.

SmackDown – April 17
Jericho walks to the ring to begin the show. Jericho announces that he’s come to SmackDown to ask the SmackDown superstars to band together with Raw and rid the WWE of the ROH infestation. He also says that next week he’ll be bringing all of the Raw superstars to SmackDown just in case ROH tries to start something. Austin Aries comes down to the ring and berates Jericho for turning on the fans who made him the star he is today and if Jericho was a real man he’d face Aries in a match on Raw. Jericho accepts and leaves.

The Hardy Boys versus The Briscoe Brothers – Ends in a no contest when Jeff tags himself in and Matt takes exception. Matt enters the ring with a chair and hits Jeff while the Briscoes take off for the back.

Later, Danielson comes out to the ring and tells the Undertaker he wants his answer. The lights go out and a blue light shines down on Danielson. Over the speakers, the Undertaker’s voice says he respects Danielson’s reasoning and challenging him like a man and at Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality., he will “rest in peace”.

Raw – April 20
Six days before the PPV, Raw opens with Jericho versus Aries. Aries gets out to an early advantage but soon Randy Orton runs out and surprises Aries with an RKO. Jericho and Orton beat down Aries and leave. After the commercial, Orton is getting back to his dressing room and he finds Cody Rhodes after a hellacious beaten up on the floor. Next to him is a sign “Your Daddy Can’t Save You –Tyler”.

Santino versus Ms. Chif. Santino acts tough until Chif screams at him and he runs into the corner. Ms. Chif quickly defeats Santino but is attacked from behind by Phoenix.

Backstage, Orton is looking for DiBiase. He walks into catering and finds DiBiase knocked out on a table. Written on DiBiase’s back in black marker is “You’re Next.”

The Age of the Fall come out next with Alison Wonderland. They talk about how DX only appeals to the lowest common denominator and that how individually they are two of the greatest wrestlers ever but whenever they combine they take a collective piss on the intelligence of the fans. Suddenly, Triple H’s music plays and he walks out with Melina and carrying his sledgehammer. He slides into the ring and catches Jacobs with a sledgehammer shot while Melina attacks Wonderland. Delirious takes off up the ramp and as he’s reaching the entrance Michaels comes out and Superkicks Delirious. DX reunite in the ring with Melina and pose until Raw goes to commercial.

Backstage, Orton is leaving the arena but finds his tires slashed. Black jumps out from behind the car and Orton covers. Black stops and smiles before walking away.

The main event is John Cena and CM Punk versus Nigel McGuiness and Chris Hero. Part way through the match, Jericho walks to the ring and Aries follows. Jericho and Aries get into a shouting match which distracts the referee. McGuiness grabs his ROH Title belt, nails Cena in the head, and goes for the cover. The ref turns and makes the three-count. McGuiness and Hero leave through the crowd as Raw goes off the air.

SmackDown - April 24
SmackDown kicks off with The Cutting Edge. Edge brings down Matt and Jeff Hardy. Edge tells them that they need to work together if they want to get rid of the “ROH pests”. The Briscoes come out and say they have a video to show. The screen shows Matt getting out of his car while talking on his cell phone saying that as soon as he gets a chance, he’s going to hit Jeff with a chair again. The Hardys start brawling and Edge gets pissed and chases after the Briscoes.

Later, Brian Danielson takes on Carlito. They start off with a handshake and Danielson gets the win with his Cattle Mutilation finisher. They shake hands again after the match.

The main event is Steenerico versus Edge & Christian. Quickly into the match Orton runs to the ring causing a disqualification. Tyler Black then comes out to counter Orton. Then Jericho and The Hardys run down followed by The Briscoes and Austin Aries. A maelstrom of a brawl has erupted in and around the ring. Jeff Hardy leaps off the top rope onto Jay Briscoe, El Generico, and Matt Hardy on the outside.

Danielson jogs but looks unsure about getting involved. The lights suddenly go out and when they come back on, The Undertaker stands in front of Danielson shaking his head “no”. McGuiness is sneaking up on Undertaker. Danielson charges, Undertaker misses a clothesline, and Danielson shoulder blocks McGuiness down. Undertaker turns and sees that Danielson saved him before nodding in salubrious respect. Danielson nods back. The lights go out again, come back on, and The Undertaker is gone. Danielson walks to the back while the brawl in the ring continues as SmackDown goes off the air.

JR: Folks, the competitors in our opening bout are two of the fastest rising stars in professional wrestling history. I’m sure as heck eager to see this confrontation – but, while I’m impressed with Tyler Black’s highly athletic repertoire, I’m not sure that it will be enough to get the job done against a white-hot Randy Orton.

DAVE: White-hot in the WWE perhaps, but Orton’s never faced a guy like Tyler Black. The man is quick-paced and unpredictable; he’s an enigmatic renegade who marches to the beat of his own drum. He also has a sincerely violent mean streak. If your jaw dropped at what happened to Rhodes and Dibiase on RAW, be forewarned that the worst is yet to come. I’ve never seen anything as malicious what this man pulled off at the “Man-up” pay-per-view, it was so shocking and controversial that ROH had to-

KING: Shocking and controversial? Don’t you nimrods pay attention to what happens up here in the big leagues? Randy Orton punted his own boss’ skull on live TV! The WWE superstars are going to send your circus of tiny little men right back where they came from and that idiot Tyler Black is first on the list!

DAVE: Lawler, you might get away with talking to Michael Cole like that, but I don’t take kindly to bullies. We are here for respect. I think you be surprised at ill prepared your “entertainers” are for our wrestlers.

JR: There’s no denying this Tyler Black is one hell of a talent. Both men have youth on their side as well as a sadistic nature that will undoubtedly come into play in this match. It’s also interesting to note that both men defected from their initial stables to pursue solo careers. Neither has a history of playing well with others. This contest will pit Tyler’s fast paced, catch-as-catch-can style against Orton’s more tactical, methodical pace. If Black can stay avoid the viper’s venom, we could see a huge upset here tonight.

DAVE: JR, I believe this contest is what you would refer to as a “slobber knocker”. First, we have the Briscoe Brothers, perhaps the most decorated tag team in ROH history. Along with Bryan Danielson, they are the only wrestlers to have been with the company since it’s first show. They’ve won the tag titles in close to a dozen promotions all over the world and they’ve held the ROH tag championship for a record-breaking five times. Add the current ROH tag champions El Generico and Kevin Steen to the mix and you’ve got a juggernaut of a team that is ready go the extra mile for their promotion.

JR: I suppose there will be two dynamic struggles at play in this slobber knocker. The first being a knock down, drag-out war between eight men who have re-defined tag team wrestling for their respective promotions, and the second being the unresolved issues between Matt and Jeff Hardy. I would hate to see this one end as a result of internal combustion on the part of team WWE. If the Hardys, Edge and Christian can rekindle that “never-say-die” attitude that propelled them to superstardom in the TLC match, I’m not sure there is anyone on face of the earth that could stop them from achieving their goal. If they let there personal differences get in the way, they’re going to have a hard time competing with four ROH pioneers.

KING: Words cannot explain just how excited I am for this match! Finally, after a month straight of listening to the ROH midgets preach about how they are so much better at wrestling than the WWE Superstars, Austin Aries has to put his money where his mouth is and take on Chris Jericho in an Iron Man Match! If this Aries twerp can last so much as ten minutes in the ring with the 2008 Superstar of the Year, I might just put my crown up for auction on eBay!

DAVE: Lawler, you know damn well no one would bid for that crown. Just as you know damn well Austin Aries is far from the pushover you make him out to be. Aries is one of the most well conditioned athletes I have ever seen, and I can assure you he will last right up to the last second of those thirty minutes. But will Chris Jericho? In the WWE, Jericho is used to wrestling guys like Cena and Batista; he’s been conditioned to have an advantage in speed and endurance, an advantage he won’t have against Austin Aries.

JR: Your right about that Dave, but it’s important to remember that Chris Jericho is a wrestling chameleon. He’s able to alter his eclectic style to whomever he steps in the ring with and hone in on their weaknesses – victories over the likes of Ultimo Dragon, Rey Mysterio and CM Punk serve as proof. Both of these men are spectacular athletes who will undoubtedly push each other to the limits in a thirty-minute wrestling clinic. Will the self-admiring Chris Jericho finally be made to shut up, or will he add yet another feat to his lengthy resume?

KING: This is usually the part of the night where I’d shout “puppies”, but considering either one of these women could rip my head off my shoulders; I’m going to pass!

DAVE: That’s the smartest thing you’ve said all night, King! We are indeed dealing with two very dangerous women – the unpredictable, psychopathic, reigning Shimmer champion Ms. Chif and the focused, colossus, former WWE women’s champion Beth Phoenix!

JR: This match will pit the innovative, submission-based offense of Ms. Chif against the overbearing strength and athleticism of Beth Phoenix. We are guaranteed to see women’s wrestling at it’s finest.

JR: This is where it all started, folks. After being ejected from several WWE shows due to unruly behavior and signs that promoted a rival organization, ROH stars planned a full on attack on the WWE. The attack came to fruition at WrestleMania when, after one of the most grueling Money In The Bank matches in WWE history, ROH’s Chris Hero jumped the guardrail, climbed the ladder and stole the briefcase just seconds before CM Punk could grab it.

KING: I’ve watched this footage time and time again and I can’t for the life of me figure it out – was Punk really too fatigued to grab the briefcase, or did Punk let Chris Hero take the briefcase? As a former ROH champion, where does Punks loyalty lie? We may have witnessed the biggest set up in the history of professional wrestling. With CM Punk as ROH’s mole, I think he’s pulled a Benedict Arnold on the WWE!

DAVE: King, if you had any idea the history between Chris Hero and CM Punk, there would be no doubt in your mind that these two couldn’t co-exist in the same room with each other let alone team up for a master conspiracy. These men have torn each other apart in TLC matches, 2/3 fall matches and several sixty minute draws, and I can assure you they will do no less tonight.

KING: I’ll believe it when I see it! Punk is a traitor and you know it, Prazek. In fact, you probably conducted this master plan yourself!

DAVE: As much as it wish it were true, Punk is not with ROH. I can assure you that tonight we will see a classic encounter between two arch-rivals – what I can’t assure you, however, is which of them will walk away with the briefcase.

JR: Our next bout features a clash between two of the most controversial groups in professional wrestling: The Age of the Fall and Degeneration X. While I sure as hell wasn’t very pleased with the way DX conducted themselves during the Attitude Era, both men have evolved into stellar human beings and are undoubtedly two of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history.

DAVE: Evolved into stellar human beings? While DX are surely legends, how is telling your employer that he “likes cock” any way for two forty year old men to behave?

JR: I won’t deny that DX are huge proprietors of potty humor, but when it comes down to integrity, you won’t find two finer men – more than I can say for the ATOF. Did they really think they were proving a point by attacking a defenseless woman? This self-important “cult” sure doesn’t extract any sympathy from me with their whiney monologues; all I see is a few spoiled kids who got in a fight with their parents and turned “Goth” in a desperate cry for attention. If it’s attention they want, DX will be happy to give it to them – but I doubt it will be the kind they had anticipated.

JR: The first half of tonight’s double main event is sure to be a contest for the ages. The Undertaker takes on Bryan Danielson in a match that can be summed up in one simple yet eloquent word: Respect.

DAVE: I couldn’t have said it better myself. No matter what side of the battlefield your on, you have to admire both of these warriors. I’ve seen first hand what Brian Danielson can do; the man is simply the best pure wrestler alive today. His unbridled passion and immaculate execution have won him prestigious talismans in three separate promotions. The name Brian Danielson is analogous with respect – respect for the business he’s devoted his life to.

JR: I knew from the moment Danielson knocked McGuire’s down what kind of man he was. Unlike so many brash youths who have targeted The Undertaker in hopes of making a name for themselves, Danielson’s intentions are clear – he wants to wrestle The Undertaker because he admires what he’s done for the sport.

KING: That may be the case now, but you can bet all that mutual admiration garbage will get tossed out the window faster than a speeding choo-choo!

JR: True, King. Both men want to win – Taker will need to avoid Danielson’s ground game just as Danielson will need to avoid Taker’s striking. It will be two locker-room leaders competing in what will surely be a match of the year candidate.

KING: This one is for all the marbles: the top dog of the ROH duking it out with the top dog of the WWE! No matter how the rest of the card turns out, this match will truly determine which company reigns supreme! I don’t know about you JR, but I think this Nigel McGuiness is in serious need of an “Attitude Adjustment”!

JR: I’d be lying if I said I was impartial. Cena has led our company with the utmost dignity and the word “quit” certainly doesn’t exist in his vocabulary. I would never count him out.

DAVE: It’s indisputable that both of these men are tough. I’ve seen McGuiness defend his belt with his face covered in a bouquet of stitches. I’ve seen Cena absorb punishment that would end a normal man’s life, only to fight back and get his hand raised. The difference maker in this match will be Nigel’s superior technique – on this night, “wrestler” will prevail over “entertainer”.

JR: This match will certainly be the perfect exclamation point on a night filled with dream matches – I can assure you ladies and gentlemen, you don’t want to miss this event. Call your local cable or satellite provider now and join us for Backlash: Respect. Honor. Finality.

I dont have a clue about ROH so I am just going to nod and agree with your choices here.

That being said, I really enjoyed reading this and it looks like it would be a good PPV if it happened.

Congratulations

I enjoyed this column, and it seemed to flow very well. It was as if I was reading one voice all the way through rather than a mish-mash of different styles as you would expect in a collab. The one match I would disagree with you on is that I think Danielson should have faced Michaels. They have the history of Shawn training Brian, and the latter's habit of being referred to as "the best wrestler in the world", something I'm sure HBK would take exception to. Besides that, I think all of the match-ups work very well, which is good for a couple of guys who didn't know a great deal about RoH. Best of luck!

I really enjoyed this. For two guys who didn't know an awful lot about RoH, you've either done a) a lot of research, or b) a lot of bare-faced lying. I think the Danielson-HBK match might have worked better too, but there's a hell of a lot of people he could have worked well with (Jericho as well, if we're going on the theme of 'respect'). Although this sounds like a reworked fantasy version of the InVasion storyline from 2001, it was still very well written, and your third wheel contribution was well picked for the topic. I'm also glad you didn't include match action, because a lot of these match ups are pretty even, and I wouldn't like to have to pick a winner. Great stuff. This is going to be a really, really tight round.

Very interesting piece. Although I have no RoH knowledge this was entertaining despite being a little over my head. I loved the way you set it out and you didn't do down the dialogue route like everyone else. Good luck guys.

The fact that this was different from all of the other columns was a huge plus. I feel like a know a lot more about ROH now than I did before, and I would pay to watch this PPV for sure.

MonkeyBoy - Thanks for the feedback. I was in your shoes before starting this column. Didn't know jack about ROH. Huge props to Skaos who was or "ROH Consultant".

TickingClock - Yeah Danielson/HBK would be the better match, but since we weren't planning to write the results, we went for more marquee draw. DX is a huge draw and including The Undertaker is a no-brainer.

JoeyShinobi - Skaos was a huge help to Ry and I. He did all the pics in addition to being our ROH expert. I'm sure we would have pumped out a great column without him but I for one am happy that we had him. Not including match results was key. We didn't want to piss off ROH fans or WWE fans who might think the other guy deserved to win.

Mazza - Thanks for the feedback. It was very interesting writing about guys I've never seen before. But Skaos provided some great references for us so it helped a lot.

Cashmoney - If you'd pay money to see it, then we succeeded in our task. Thank you for that.

LipBomb - Yours was EXACTLY the reaction we wanted. Thank you.

I know almost nothing about RoH, and this was a very interesting way to learn about it. The build up to the booking of the matches gave me quite a lot of information about the respective characters in RoH and where they fit in / what their gimmick is / what their reputation is.

I have no idea how it would come across to someone who knows RoH, but as a n00b this was a great introduction. This will indeed be a very tight round.

Very good read really the only two negatives I could even bring up (and this is just nit-picking) would be listing the name of the Backlash ppv so many times, as it became a bit redundant. The other downside was like has been said, the Danielson/Taker match. I get the thought of going after the biggest dog but putting Danielson in a match with Taker would make him look like a kid almost.

I've been clamoring for a ROH/WWE working agreement like WWF/ECW had at one time, as I think it would help freshen up the WWE product as well as get ROH some big exposure. The only downside would of course be tied into whether or not Vince would be willing to put over some of the ROH guys.

Excellent work here guys.

Default Some recommendations...

This is incredibly interesting... far more so than a TNA/WWE invasion style feud. I love what you did with the Chris Hero/Punk history, as well as the Scramble match. It adds tons of intrigue.

I'm a little iffy on the AOTF/DX feud... I don't think it'd have the same weight if Michaels and HHH were going as singles wrestlers. The other item that has me a little lukewarm is Danielson vs. Undertaker. Nice idea, but drastic clash of styles. Here's what I'd do...

I'd have AOTF take on the kid-friendly WWE duo of Rey Mysterio and Evan Bourne. Bourne is another guy with ROH history, and a notorious feud on the Indie scene with Delirious. Jacobs could come in and ambush them, accusing Bourne of giving into the conformity of the almighty dollar, claiming he's just another "corporate puppet," a wasted dream. As for Rey, he's the perfect instrument of deception... he lures in young children to watch his matches and cheer his name while blinding them to the true pain of adulthood and the wrestling business. Now it really feels like the good guys vs. the bad guys. AOTF would also get massive heat for taking out these two fan favorites.

As for DX, I'd keep them separate like I mentioned. HHH is a longtime veteran, revered and respected by many. He's left his mark on WWE, just like Jerry Lynn has left his mark on the independent scene. A dream almost as great as winning the ROH World Title at his age would be to play the Game... and win. Given how old school these two can get, it could be a surprisingly good match on the level of HHH's matches with Chris Benoit.

Now HBK, he has a ready-made feud with his most prized student: The American Dragon. This would be a jaw-dropping showstopper (no pun intended), as these two could put on a true wrestling clinic. The storyline is simple: the student feels he has surpassed the teacher... it's as old as time and still incredibly effective. The Best Wrestler in the World vs. the Heartbreak Kid. This would be part of your double main event.

Some other potential matches that could be thrown in would be Miz N' Morrison vs. the American Wolves. JoMizzy is too over not to be involved somehow, and the Wolves are on the rise as SnS Inc.'s prized hit squad. I'd also throw in a battle of blue chippers: Claudio Castagnoli vs. MVP. This would be a mid-card sleeper that'd really get the crowd going after 10, 15 minutes or so.

With Undertaker unaccounted for, I'd put him against Erick Stevens. I think Stevens could work real well against Taker for a man of his size. Either that or pair up Taker and Kane against Stevens and Brent Albright. I also think a golden match for comedy would be Rhett "Addicted to Love" Titus against Santino Marella.

Overall, very well done.

Default And for Hardcore Fans

Necro Butcher vs. Finlay in a NHB match. That'd be STIFF.

Everyone - Thanks for your support and opinions - I just want to give a special shout to Sean and Skaos for being exceptional teammates. They deserve all the credit in the world for this.

SexyTimeMachineGun - You obviously are more keen on ROH than Sean and I, and you have some great suggestions. We put DX together to add more stars on one card - if we had infinite time/matches, we would have done a lot of things differently. Ex: Even the current World champion Edge was crammed into a tag match, it just worked out that way. HBK VS Danielson seemed to be everyone's suggestion here. I personally was intrigued by the prospect of a Danielson/Jericho match, but The Deadman got the part. Thanks for the read!

Double posting is frowned upon. You should use the "Edit" function. Good ideas for matches, though.
