Ok, did anybody actually think to back up the prediction contest? Cause that's gonna suck if it's gone.

Is there gonna be a STRIKEFORCE thread? just curious...

I probably would've nearer to the next show. They are pretty quiet between show so it was out if sight, out if mind I guess.

Good god, live MMA is one of the best things ever. WEC 49 was phenomenal.

With that, fuck the judge that gave Shalorus a 29-27. That's bullshit. Varner got robbed hardcore.

Oh fuck yeah, it was my second live MMA event, and it was phenomenal. Not one bad fight on the main card.

I've been to MFC 25 and now WEC 49, both were awesome.

I'm hoping in a couple years when I'm 21 to go to Vegas with my cousin and catch a UFC event.

Nice. Where I live, we had 1 MMA event last year, and it was shitty low down shit. I forgot the name of the company... Ken Shamrock fought there. Actually, I think it might have been called Wargods or some shit like that.

If Ken Shamrock is fighting on it, you know it's a shitty, desperate company.

Yeah, that's the worst name for a promotion I have heard so far.

Kids, look to Ken Shamrock to see what happens when you continue fighting for too long.

And people wonder why I question my MMA fanhood.

Then again, the name really doesn't matter too much I guess, if the card has good fights, that's what counts in the end.

Gonna be in Vegas 4th of July weekend, but gonna be there for a wedding, Saturday, July 3rd - ugh no Lesnar/Carwin for me. Anyone know if Vegas bars/casinos show the fights? May have to duck out of the wedding for a bit.

front page says Batista is going to be joining StrikeForce but an independent MMA website says that no deal has been signed between the two parties, what do you guys think is this legit or just TMZ and Bats jumping the gun?

  17. #17
I'm sure they will scoop him up and while he is a freak physically, I doubt he will make much of a splash considering his age and lack of skills.

I read on mmajunkie that Strikeforce has not made a deal with Batista. A fight between Lashley and Batista would be interesting. Though Lashley would probably destroy him. Or Strikeforce could feed Batista to Fedor. That could always be fun.

Wanderlei Silva has dropped out of his fight with Akiyama, Chris Leben will replace him.

Mad respect for Leben, 12 days rest between fights, the guy has balls of steel.

Bittersweet for me. I like Wand, and I don't really care for Leben. Either way, I was pulling for Akiyama, so I guess it's all good.

Damn, quick turn around for Leben. Props to the guy. I'm wondering how Akiyama is taking it, I remember reading that he refused to fight anyone but Wanderlei next. After Leben's last performance, I'm seeing him pull out the win.

Akiyama will stay in. The UFC will probably pay him a nice bonus for accepting this last minute switch. They have a history of rewarding guys for playing ball like this. Leben is probably getting a nice off the record payday too.

Anyway, this should be a relatively easy fight for Akiyama. As tough as Leben is, he just doesn't have the skill to deal with a fighter of Akiyama's level. He's got power but Akiyama has one hell of a chin. It will be a fun fight and likely fight of the night because Leben will stay in there until the final bell but in the end, I see Akiyama winning a lopsided decision. He win in the standup via technique overcoming toughness and if he senses trouble, he'll use his Judo to put Leben on his back.

I was disappointed to hear this too. But I'm freaking excited for this card. I actually requested off from work so I could watch this in its entirety.

Oh, and did anyone notice that GSP won the "Most Dangerous Man" award from the Spike Guys Choice Award? That's pretty awesome

On the subject of Dave Bautista, on the off chance he actually winds up fighting for Strikeforce, there is only one single fight I'd like to see him in.

    Dave Bautista vs Herschel Walker

I'll explain why. Currently, there's this viral video making the rounds. It's been on message boards, Twitter and the like. Anyway, the video starts off with this monkey sitting in the grass. The monkey reaches down and grabs something off the grounds. Turns out what the monkey grabs is a small frog. The monkey then proceeds to insert his erect penis directly into the frog's mouth and thrusts back and forth. It's disturbing, uncomfortable and extremely awkward to watch but yet you cannot look away.

A fight between Bautista and Walker would be exactly the same as Monkey Mouth Fucking a Frog video. It'll be disturbing, uncomfortable and extremely awkward to watch these two inexperienced middle aged men try to fight each other with a complete lack of skill or technique. But yet, you won't be able to take your eyes off this mess. Sure, even the thought of these two sad old men ineffectively pawing at each other for fifteen minutes sets the sport back but goddammit, entertainment is entertainment and this'll be the Jersey Shore of MMA. It's wrong but we'll all watch. Besides, a few weeks later the UFC or WEC will put on a blockbuster and we'll all forget this mess even happened so no harm no foul.

So Walker vs Bautista: Age in the Cage! Make it happen, Strikefarce!

damn I was really looking forward to Wandy/Akiyama, what happened Silva got hurt or something? Is the fight still being promoted as the co-main event? I dont like Leben but a 12 day turn around is ballsy and hopefully it'll be an entertaining bout.

Batista vs Herschel...Fight of the Year!! lol, im kinda surprised that StrikeForce hasnt snapped up Kimbo yet

Batista's "2 fight deal" 1 fight against Walker, the other against Kimbo. Unless they feed him to Overoid or Fedor.

I disagree, he looked like trash against Belcher, and I don't get the hype around Belcher at all.

Leben has solid TDD, and has been getting better and better. I hope he KO's Akiyama, maybe he would finally get the respect he deserves.

if Leben beats Akiyama...could we possibly see Wandy vs Leben down the line? personally i would like to see that bout either way i think Silva needs at least 2 more convincing wins before id wanna see him fight for the belt possibly in the spring of 2011. The three future fights Id like to see Wandy have are Silva vs Silva, a rematch with Vitor thats like a decade in the making and when Franklin gets healed up Id really like to see Silva vs Franklin II at 185lbs.

I definately want to see Wandy vs Vitor again, assuming Vitor sticks around if he loses to Anderson. And I agree that Akiyama is going to have a rough night against Leben, unless the Belcher fight was just a bad night for him. Leben is coming off of one of the better performances of his Octagon career. Leben is finally maturing, becoming more well rounded and reaching his prime as a fighter. I honestly feel like he could become a title challenger in the weak middleweight division.

They have a couple of good fighters and there are also some very good champions; but they are trying to keep everyone at the same level. Now reports are saying that Akiyama doesn't want Leben, and is requesting a different fighter.

Wow, that is some diva bullshit, not I really want Leben to knock his ass out.

Well, he was set on facing Wanderlei, and Leben isn't Wanderlei. Akiyama has more to lose if it's only Leben, and if he beats Leben, he really doesn't gain anything.

so ive been reading some more on this Batista situation, apparently there were some informal talks between him and SF and that the sticking point was the money and another article stated that he was offered a big money 2 fight deal from a small time MMA promotion. Im assuming the small promotion is JBLs Viper Fight League who ive seen nothing of or know anyone who fights for them, as for the SF thing honestly how much does Batista think he's worth at his age and little to no MMA background? Yeah in wrestling i think he could easily pull high six and seven figure paydays given his popularity but in MMA those type of numbers are for the premier fighters.

Last I heard, she's an "actress" now. Taking a hiatus from fighting. Won't be long until her talentless ass is spit out the bottom of the porn industry, right alongside Danica Patrick.

    Wait, what?

She was undefeated until she ran into a monster known as Cyborg...

She's a talented fighter, but the size and strength difference was too much.

She's a decent fighter, but not nearly as great as STRIKEFORCE would have you believe.

And to her credit, the "Female" "Cyborg" may in fact be a man, the debate still rages, as some claim "Cyborg" is in fact Wanderlei in drag. o.0

Sorry if the first post came off too harsh, I didn't get much sleep, and when I woke up, my house was filled with people I don't know, so that fucked up the flow of my wake up process, Lol.

EDIT: Wanderlei pulled out of his July 3rd bout. "Cyborg" fights on June 26th.

    0.0

    THE DEBATE RAGES!!!!!!!

on a more serious note, Akiyama has been forced to face Leben, and Jardine has been released.
