    The Jay Lethal Thread

I think that it is time that this guy gets some recognition. For someone as young as this guy is with the amount of pressure that he has in his profession, Lethal carries himself as a true professional. The thing that makes Lethal so great is that everything that he does seem so genuine. You just cant teach that. He may not necessarily have the look nor the size (still young), but I think that this guy will be one of those guys that defies the odds and will eventually get a legitimate chance at the World Title.

Don’t get me wrong, he still has time to grow, but I am confident that his underdog, “Living a dream” gimmick will resonate well with a lot of fans.

So how good is Lethal and how far do you tink he will go....

It will certainly be interesting to see where he goes coming off the Flair angle. I don't think he should be around the ME to quickly, he needs a bit more seasoning before he steps into the title picture. Not to mention how over-saturated the title picture is right now.

I never liked Lethal before, he was o.k but I wouldn't actively go and see what he did on Impact or anything, it wouldn't have bothered me if I didn't see him on T.V.

But I think if the whole Hogan/Bischoff regime has done anything good for me, is that the feud Lethal has with flair has made me care about him and I'd buy him now as a legit upper mid carder anyway.

I agree with ya NSF that his new gimmick of the youngster living the dream and all could help him go very far up, I'd even think that Lethal could replace A.J as the face of T.N.A, let A.J be a heel who feels underappreciated, without the flair association.

I'd love if A.J left Flair and co. now, turned face. Then eventually A.J goes back heel against Lethal because of Lethal being the underdog who the fans love and wins the TNA title.

EDIT - I'd have him go for the Global belt or something anyway Mr. Chop, keep him away from the main title for the moment, so when/if he eventually wins it, it'd be like when MCMG won the tag belts.

Just what I was thinking. They need to elevate the Global title anyway. Lethal feuding with a couple of decent heels (Wolfe, AJ or Kazarian possibly? Basically, the Fortune boys) could be good.

Ya I don't mind Rob Terry as much as some people, I like Magnus so him feuding with him is nice to see instead of him doing nothing, but the Global title needs a couple of really good wrestling matches for it to make it better, a Lethal and A.J, or Lethal and Kazarian could do that, or hell just let Samoa Joe carry it for a whilecause him and Lethal would be a good feud to see.

I like Lethal, but Id like him to have more of an edge. Like when Rock started and he was this super nice guy, people didn't like it. That's kind of how I feel about Lethal, his wrestling and promo abilities are very good, but he's just too much of a good guy, I don't always want to hear about how much he loves his momma. I like guys like Flair, Savage, Austin, Rock etc., guys that even when they are "face" they still act like assholes and people love it. I dunno, I just don't like the "good guy" gimmick, I guess that's why I turned on Bret Hart.

... Coming from a poster named 'DaBadGuy', I thought that would be obvious :P

Jay Lethal's character is great for him right now because he is so young. He's already got a positive fanbase because of his comedy role as Black Machismo, and keeping him a baby face that is happy to be living his dream is a great way to hold that baby face momentum while moving him up the card. There is quite a bit of flexibility with the role, and he could evolve his character very successfully by being involved in a few good storylines. He could become a darker character when all the things he grew up looking forward to end up being negatives, (A childhood hero could turn on him), or if things are more positive, he could become progressively more cocky. It's great though, because it's going to eventually lead up to Jay Lethal being Jay his own character, instead of an impersonation.

^ I liked Owen more the Bret, always did.

Lethal has World champion material in him. Remember the Angle match?

Heck, at one time recently I wondered if he'd make it better in WWE over TNA. He has mic skills, women like him, and wrestles a great match. No, he's not big, but I don't remember injuring anyone else, or himself, and took a gimmick (Black Machismo) that should have been career suicide (See Kaz) and turned it into gold until the stopped his push. If he doesn't get pushed high, there is no reason for him to continue being loyal to TNA. This could be the start of something great, but I have my reservations as the last PPV of THA's I bought was when he beat Christopher Daniels the PPV after his Angle match.

He is only 25, so there is a lot of time for him going ahead.

Completely agree about Lethal taking the Black Machismo gimmick and running with it when he did. Could've been all bad for him if it didn't get over.

The people in the Impact Zone love them some leathal, He is geeting a big push from the guys in booking and they are talking about even giving him some new merchandise so all is looking good for the kid and to be honest he is one of the nicest down to earth laid back guys in the world so it could not be happening to a better guy. So I am very happy for him.

Lethal has so much potential. As long as the help he is gettign right now from the boys in the back and managment with his charater development then he will be ready to do even more great things and do better. I just hope he will make a rock style heel turn I think ti could be the best thing in the world for him.

Disagree with this statement. Don't think he is ready to be the top dog but a TV Title run maybe in the near future (however I think Pope should be handed the TV Title before Lethal).

Deffinetly pope should get a run with the t.v. title first but there is word out there that they will keep this t.v. title belt but bring out one more belt either bring the global title back or something akin to a intercontenital title but the plan is to add one more belt so we can have more title matches taking place to help better round out pay per view cards and impact.

Adding another Title is a terrible idea for 2 reasons....

1- Only 2 hours of TV time a week at the moment (and there is already 6 titles within TNA)

2- The X-Division title is not highlighted anywhere near where it should be.

Until they can fix problem 2 and add more TV time (a 2nd show) a new Title should not even be considered by TNA itself or by TNA wrestling fans.

Well more t.v. time is coming reaction airs right after the whole fing show on the 12th so there is 1 hour and then TNA is in talks with spike t.v. to pick up TNA XPLOSION and extending from the one hour it is now to a full two hours. If that happens we will have need for a another title and I can see that coming to fruition as soon as maybe earlie next year if not sooner.

Even if all of that comes to fruition, there is already enough titles. The X-Division title should be built up and used more instead of making a whole new belt.

Reaction doesn't count as TV really because there is no actually wrestling on it and won't be enough help to push 7 titles. They need a show where they can feature more wrestling (it doesn't need to be 2 hours). I'd love for them to shoot for the 10-11 timeslot on Friday nights as I don't think another show should air BEFORE IMPACT considering it is the flagship show.

I agree with you vosslier we have not been using the x divison belt to its full potential and I really hope we will start to push that belt more. That is a divison that put this company in the spot light and a lot of young talent into the spot light. It is a premire pice of the company and I belive TNA should focous more on doing it. I truly hope booking will get its head out of it's ass and see it the way I see it as a crown jewel of TNA.

Wow, I didnt think that they would look to get an extra hour for Xplosion...that would be huge.....but like others have said NO MORE TITLES....lol..

Theres only like 2 tag teams for the KO tag titles and there is approximately 5 X-Division stars competing for the X-Division title. Xplosion should be used just to enhance the titles that they already have.

I actually saw Amazing Red, Magnus and Terry cut a promo on Xplosion...thats why you have a show like that.

NSF, I'd take anything he says with a pinch of salt. since he claim's to work for TNA yet his IP address has been confirmed as being in Carolina.

Personally, I think they should tighten up Impact before adding a new show. That being said, they have a ridiculous amount of talent and something that showcases the X-Division more would be an idea. An hour is fine to do that though. Minimum of promo/skit's, pure wrestling, similar to what WWECW was.
