What are some of the best or worst cover songs youve heard? Were they on par with the original or better?


heres a few that i like

Hurt- I liked Cash's version better than Reznor's

Careless Whisper- Ive currently been rocking Seether's cover of it and i think its better than the George Michaels version

One- Korns cover of this Metallica hit was awesome, Ill say its right there with the original

Hurt- I liked Cash's version better than Reznor's

Trent liked Johnny's version better too. Saying something along the lines of "That's his song now". Rusty Cage was another good one.

I am not a fan of Chris Cornell's cover of "Billie Jean". Although, he's still my favorite singer.

Anything Me First & The Gimme Gimmes cover is automatically better than the original. Except Stairway, though their snippet of it is good.

I had heard a bit of Pat Boone's "In a Metal Mood". I just discovered Paul Anka did a similiar album called "Rock Swings". He covers "Blackhole Sun" ewww...... gave me the gibbilies.

Got into a big argument one time with a girl who insisted that the NIN cover of 'Dead Souls' is better than the Joy Division version. Joy Division in a runaway for mine.

Though not a cover, Yelawolf's 'TNT' off the Stereo tape is better than the AC/DC original because it sounds like a Beastie Boys song.

Anyone heard Bret Micheal's cover of "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake? Horrible. Just atrocious. I heard it on commercial radio and still felt cheated somehow.

Tour Song - Rise Against.
They took a heavy screamo song that didn't really work, and made it lovely and acoustic. Probably my favourite cover ever.

A good place for covers is to look up the Radio 1 live lounge. For those not in the UK, basically famous bands play each others songs.Normally in completely different styles. Its pretty fun.

All 3 are pretty atrocious.

Concrete Blonde did a lot of really spectacular covers, including Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing, Bob Dylan's Simple Twist of Fate and Leonard Cohen's Everybody Knows (Also orgasmic live).

I like Youth Group's cover of Forever Young.

And the whole "Tiny Cities" album by Sun Kil Moon. They cover a bunch of tracks by Modest House. Great stuff.

I have to disagree just for their cover of Nick Cave's Loverman... Everything but that was pretty damn good.

HIM's Wicked Game cover is fantastic, Thrice covering Send Me An Angel is pretty good as is their cover of Eleanor Rigby.

Machine Head covering Battery and Hallowed By Thy Name are fantastic.

big fan of a lot of the cash covers on the "Unearthed" box set - of course his cover of "Hurt" is sick, but i think his covers of "Personal Jesus" and "Redemption Song" are overlooked. And then there are covers of Cash - one of my all time favorites is Social Distortion's cover of "Ring of Fire"
