    Punting: Turn $20 into $20,000

Firstly, i have no idea of the gambling laws or set-up's in other countries so this might come across as a bit off the mark but this is a nice strategy to make some quick money.

All you need to do this is $20.

The idea of this is starting with $20, you make a multi that adds up to the odds of $2. Win, then use the $40 to do the same and so on... get 10 in a row and your fortune = $20,480.

    bet 1 $20 @2 = $40
    bet 2 $40 @2= $80
    bet 3 $80 @2= $160
    bet 4 $160 @2=$320
    bet5 $320 @2=$640
    bet6 $640 @2=$1280
    bet7 $1280 @2=$2560
    bet8 $2560 @2=$5120
    bet9 $5120 @2=$10,240
    bet10 $10,240 @2=$20,480

The idea of the multi means that you can pick the favorites in whatever events and eventually the odd's will add up to $2. For example, picking England to beat bangladesh in the cricket is $1.07 + Andy Rodick to beat Nieminen in the tennis $1.25 + Greece to beat North Korea in the soccer friendly and you have a total of $2.14....

Typically betting on the favorites has very little value but if you get on a couple of them at a time it add's up. Ofcourse you need a little bit of luck with this aswell.

You dont have to stick to that strategy either, once you start getting up to the 4th stage you might choose to bank half your winnings just to be safe and you just have to remember if you do lose out you only started with a $20.

    How about this one?

I have a billion dollars cash that my grandmother left me as inheritance. I just need YOU to send me your bank account details and funds of only 5,000 dollars to allow me to then share HALF of a billion dollars with you. 5,000 dollars into half a billion dollars, you can't lose. But just to be safe, PM me your details instead of posting it here, otherwise somebody might be quick and rip you off. You know you can trust me, i'm half white.

you mean like putting all your money on the raiders to win the premiership this year?

i'm not saying you're going to always win, it's just a different strategy and something people may want to look into if they had the occasional bet. and it's only $20 to start off, not really breaking the bank there.

I've got nothing against what you said, I just don't gamble. Stay away from NRL fixtures, they'll halt your momentum quick smart.

Have you put this to practice? You kinda sound like you've already started this.

Also, you probably got Poms shaking their heads at this, as their bookie system looks like a whole bunch of fractions.

I have been wanting to do that for a while so here goes with $20:

    From TAB Sportsbet:

    Cameroon @ $1.68 vs Georgia
Greece @ $1.60 vs North Korea
Port Adelaide @ $1.18 vs Richmond

    Total Odds: $3.17

    I'll see how this goes.

    ok thanks for that

and ej, was up to $80 but lost it this week because of a few afl upsets. gunna start again this weekend. i've set myself a limit of $20 a week of my own money but can bet however much from what i win. i bet online so it's easy to fall into a trap so it's good to have a system.

spud, that looks pretty good but be carefull of port, they let me down last week, the bastards.

I have a small gambling strategy that may allow some of you to make a nice little bit of money.

Go to a roulette table, place x amount of money on a colour. If it comes up, switch to the other colour and bet x amount again. If it doesn't come up, stick with the same colour.

The trick is to double your bet each time until you win, then switch. That way, you always turn a profit. It just depends how much money you have.

    For starters, let's say I have $100.

I place $10 on red, it comes up. I have $110.
    I place $10 on black, it doesn't come up. I have $100.
    I place $20 on black, it doesn't come up. I have $80.
I place $40 on black, it comes up. I have $120.
I place $10 on red, it comes up. I have $130.
I place $10 on black, it comes up. I have $140.
    I place $10 on red, it doesn't come up. I have $130.
I place $20 on red, it comes up. I have $150.

Obviously it's not a quick method for becoming a billionaire, but it's good for making a few bucks.

Used to do some gambling, won for a bit, then lost for a bit then quit.

No systems really work, otherwise there wouldn't be any bookies.

    ^ Exactly

I used to bet big on sports. I won a lot at first (which just make things worse in the long run), then lost my ass hard and kept going thinking I had a "system" and could get out of it. Doesn't work that way.

But this implies that your odds change depending on where the ball lands. Its like betting on coinflipping, except there is an off chance of the coin standing up on its green side.

The only long term game that has any significant chance of profit is perhaps Poker. The only reason I am partaking in this is because the initial outlay is only $20 and realistically I know the chances of even getting up to $5000 are small, but theoretically, if patient enough and smart enough you could win it, but I'm prepared to lose.

    419 scams FTW.

Besides really good poker players, I have never met anyone who has made any significant amount of money by gambling. My cousin, for example, is a chronic sports gambler. He has his good weeks where he makes a decent amount of money, but then proceeds to lose it in the following week or two. THat's why it's called gambling, I suppose.

The only way I see people making money off gambling would be to quit while they're ahead, and that rarely happens.

Ive made some pretty decent money on horseracing. (there is nothing like sitting in an off track betting at weird hours to watch the Gold Cup go live) With Horseracing its all about having more information then the rest of the ticketwaiving shmucks, the internet is very good for it. Im still ahead if i look at the whole year. I do alot of Pick Sixes and Exactas as well as Betting Win Place or Show bets. Its how i won a pretty penny on the derby.

Yes, there is the green to consider, but it is only likely to come up 1/37th of the time, after all.

Getting paid even money when you're not getting even odds is how casinos make millions upon millions of dollars per year.

When you're gambling, you always have to look at the long term. That's why it's a good idea to have some kind of understanding of statistics and percentages. Even if you're a .01% underdog, you're slowly bleeding money. That's why professional poker players make money. They understand the odds of making their hand vs what their opponent has vs the likelihood of said opponent paying off with a worse hand vs about two dozen other things.

The only "system" that works in gambling (other than being a good poker player) is what the MIT and other blackjack teams did. Even then, it's a high varience system due to the nature of the game. You're getting a lot of money in when you have just a slight advantage. The swings will be wild, but if you've got enough of a bankroll, you can make a profit playing blackjack. Any systems for roulette or craps or anything else is just garbage. You'll never be able to get a mathematical advantage or the opportunity to ramp up your bets like you can in blackjack and poker.

Saints betting is suspended, however even though I'm a Saints supporter and Adelaide have had a shit season, I wouldn't put them on my multi.

    Odds $1.99

    Cats
    Port
    Freo
    Dogs
England to beat Bangladesh @ 1.09

you could probably lock that in.

if ever there's a week to tip 8 in the afl, it's this one. i havnt looked at the odd's but there's only really two im concerned about, pies over bris and hawks over swans. bit worried about the pies even tho they're strong favs and cant trust hawthorne just yet.

Brisbane won't win, regardless whether it is at the Gabba or not with the form/state Brown is in, I don't see them coming close but yeah if the Hawks vs Swans game was in sydney it would be a lock, however, it's a toss up.

i dunno about the swans, no ruckman, no bradshaw or kennelly and it's in melbourne against a rejuvenated hawks, bit risky if you ask me.

have a couple $10 multi's this weekend. first is

    Western Bulldogs @ 1.31
    Geelong @ 1.04
    Port Adelaide @ 1.21
    St Kilda @ 1.25
    Carlton @ 1.19
    Fremantle @ 1.11

and second multi i went for the 8 adding collingwood and hawthorn at $1.30 a piece to the previous lot.

    we'll see what happens.

    Thats gambling.

I used to do multis on Champions League games, thinking they were predictable. They mostly were, but there would always be one match that fucked it all up.

Yup, too true. I'm going to put some multi's on the World Cup, I might see the fixtures for league and AFL next week, but I might lay it off.
