Thread: So who will be the first "Big" Star to jump to WWE?

  1. #1

So who will be the first "Big" Star to jump to WWE?

I would love to see a Radicals thing like Hustle wrote in his column but I am not sure that will happen. I do see someone big leaving sooner then later though.

I think it would be AJ but I seem to remember him signing a long term contract a while back.

I think Joe would leave but I don't thing WWE would want him.

My guess is Desmond Wolfe. I doubt his contract is to long and unless he has a health issue to keep him out I think WWE would take him since they almost did last year.

I can definetly see Desmond Wolfe leaving. He is just ticked about the depush he has been given and really I belive may just be looking for a way out at this point. Samoa Joe I could also see leaving soon too. He is very fed up with creative but I think he is still in the middle of a long term contract.

I don't know that is intresting you said thay. Rob Terry is from the team 3d wrestlign school and Team 3D help to get him signed. He signed a 2 year contract in 2009 which would mean his contract is up in 2011. It will be intresting to see does he stay with his friends and mentors when his contract runs out or does he try to move on to the greener pastures of the WWE. It will be intresting to see which way this one goes.

you ARE a TNA employee right??
and you're always in the tapings ..... RIGHT?

then why did you say that Wolfe has been depushed?? there is an angle going with him an Magnus (as tagteam partners) at yesterdays Xplosion taping.

Know you are right and I think they are going to make a tag team angle with him and Magnus but coming of the solid strong singles push he was on this is a definet down grade for sure.

Samoa Joe is not signing another contract with TNA unless there are huge changes.

Samoa Joe knows enough boys with pull in the WWE.

    Joe jumps.

  9. #9
It would be fun to see Joe show up in WWE but I think best case he get's a Monster's push for a few months then goes to the midcard. Thats if he gets in great shape. No way WWE brings in an out of shape Joe.

  10. #10
Since Daniels has no commitments whatsoever with TNA right now, I think he'd jump first, followed closely by Joe. Just don't put them on NXT.

I agree, I knew Joe had a lot of friends i nthe bussiness I just didn't know he had any in wwe. I agree he will have to get more in shape if he wants to go there and if I was him that's what I would focus on getting in shape and getting to the wwe because after the stunt he pulled in the prodution truck he is going to be floating in the ether of mid card land for a while and I don't see a push coming for him anytime soon until his attitude improves.

I don't think they would have any intrest in him at all. To small, to old and to bland.

Agreed and also I think he is doing some work for ring of honor currently because I haven't heard anything about him coming back to TNA at all.

Hmmm - first Big star to leave eh - well - first - you have to create Big stars - ala the AWA in some guy named Hulk Hogan - frankly I don't think any of the pure TNA talent (as in never worked for Vince) really has much of a chance to jumping. This isn't 1998. The obvious choice to me is Samoa Joe - like many of you on here. But, how is Vince going to push this guy? Give him a Kamala/Umaga gimmick? A Yokozuna gimmick? Seriously, what do you do with him? I'm not sure Johnny Ace and the boys at creative can come up with something. The only way Joe getes over, anywhere he wrestles, is with a monster push. The guy is good in the ring, all right on the mic, but he needs charisma lessons. He's a mid-carder at best - not a main-eventer. Vince historically is selective on the mid-carders he brings in - so I will say he passes on Joe unless Joe takes a pay cut or is willing to work a 300-day schedule. Maybe a guy like Consequences Creed goes to FCW for training?

They need to start marketing their own talent.

You can have ten Rocks and ten Hogans but without MAJOR marketing and constant touring, it means nothing. The biggest thing hurting them is being fixed in one place in Orlando. It gives the sense of 'territorial fed" versus 'national fed'. I disagree with Booker T and other talent about the six-sided ring being a trademark. I see a six-sided ring and I think "lucha" and "spotfest" - I am not a fan of 'spot'fests - one of my major knocks on RVD - he's too spotty. The four-sided ring is fine. Save it for AAA Wrestling.

Maybe you grab Nash and the MCMGs and make a group called "The Detroit Demolition" - get Kid Rock involved...(patent pending) - start tapping into pop culture - get a vibe on what's on the edge now - Paul Heyman did that wonderfully with the original ECW. If Dixie insists on having Terry and Eric and Russo involved, fine - they each bring their ideas - but build a writing team - an outside the box writing team - to help. You can't have one person be head booker (maybe head decision-maker a la Vince) - if one person books it again screams 'territorial fed" and not 'national fed'. Interview your talent - really get to know them - their background, their heritage, their fears, etc - get a good grip on the personalities you have. Maybe Matt Morgan is a scream prankster in the locker room - incorporate that into his persona. Dwayne Johnson started as a quiet, unassuming, hard-working face as Rocky Miavia and had the wherewithal to inject more and more into his character's personality and HE became The Rock - Vince didn't do that - Dwayne did. Very often, in WWE and TNA, the performers perform generically like robots and you see very little of the human side of them. The only character who should be a robot is The Undertaker, because that is the persona. That's it. With generic performers you get generic wrestling, with complex and human-injected performers, you get buzz, you get good matches, and you get ratings.

Excelence you are right on the money, until TNA's booking department gets it's shit together we care going to see the same stuff week after week. But I dissagree with the whole locked in one place thing. Orlando is a greta home for TNA Universal Studios love them and bends over backwards to help them any way they can and it's a great way to have it a atmoshpere that is like a family. The fan's and the wrestlers feel more connected because you see the same people time and time again and it builds to a better promtion and a better fan wrestler bond. In my opion.

Most likely Joe or Wolfe. Hell, they both might end up in the E.

    4 weeks, 20 papers

  19. #19
Trick question. TNA doesn't have any "Big" stars. They have "medium" stars and "old" stars.

  20. #20
well Samoa Joe is rumored to have been good friends with John Cena starting back in their days in UPW. Joe is also still good friends with CM Punk. Plus their are pictures on the internet of him Samoa Joe hanging out with Melina, John Morrison, and Gregory Helms

Not to sound like a broken record but I'd like to see Samoa Joe jump to WWE and get a monster push. Robert Roode is another one I'd like to see go WWE, and maybe James Storm but that won't happen after seeing what happened to his old AMW partner Chris Harris.

No one else I can see making a jump.

  22. #22
Unlike TNA, Vince has the ability to look past who he likes or dislikes as people and look at who can be big bucks for him. Of course Vince and his scouts will give Matt Morgan another look, Robert Roode would blend in fantastically, AJ Styles would be snatched first chance they can grab him. MCMG would be used as midcarders in WWE but they'd love it there since they are both resiliant enough to work the grizzly schedule. A couple of knockouts would be snatched up. Velvet Skye, Angelina Love and possibly Taylor Wilde could be considered.

Velvet Skye would be the hardest for WWE to grasp since she may think her pay rise is great still.

  23. #23
IF TNA folded tomorrow I could imagine the WWE grabbing

AJ Styles to go on Smackdown and work for the IC title
Velvet Sky and Taylor Wilde for the women's divisions
Wolfe, Jay Lethal, Joe and Doug Williams going to NXT (people thinking Vince would give a shit about Joe's accomplishments outside of the E are well wide of the mark)
RVD coming back for a run for the Smackdown world title
Matt Morgan going to Raw as mid-card fodder

and if he wanted to restart a proper tag division bringing in 3D (short term), MCMG and Beer Money

That is it, and that's at a stretch as I honestly have doubts about whether he'd be bothered with signing Joe, Williams or the tag teams at all

  24. #24
Well, RVD basically had the chance to go back to WWE already...he just didn't want to work the schedule. I mean he hasn't been in TNA that long, is/"was" the world champion and he is taking time off anyway.

I don't see Joe going very far in WWE because their answer to Joe was Umaga, and I don't see him getting any bigger of a push than that.

Is Samoa Joe's shape any worse than Husky Harris?

The only disadvantage Joe would have going to WWE is that he possibly won't be able to any choke holds (at least not with a tie).

Harris looks "Right" the way he is. Like Dusty did. Joe looks like bloated Elvis past his prime.

Ahmen to that crippler, if samoa joe would quit trying to put the craft foods table into a sumbission move at every tapping and work out more he might be able to get back into a shape where the wwe migth sit up and take notice.

I've worked it out. you work as a crafts food caterer there. You mention that food table so often.

and then you fly home to south carolina every so often.

If I worked in craft food's we would be eating better than pasta and potato chips. Heck when the wwe guys came and filmed some stuff here at universal studios, they got friging mahi mahi at there craft services table. We so are getting the short end of the food stick.

I think it's ironic you used the phrase 'sit up'.

EXACTLY Dabadguy, They book him terrible and have him keep jobbing out are walking out on matches. They need to go back to when he was a truly l;egitamte bad ass. He has great mic skills and just keeps gettign over looked. It truly is sad such a great resource and is tottaly getting tottaly looked over by TNA. I almost hope he does jump because WWE will make him explode as a star I am sure and would be a great heel for them.

You're off your rocker. Remember Matt " I..I...I Ddddonnn'ttt Stutter" Morgan. He sucks.

I think they'll take someone from the Indy's (not talking Black) before they grab someone from TnA. Someone like Claudio Castagnoli. He's been pulling off the best big man shtick in all of wrestling for a long time now.

Nah man, I think Morgan has tons of potential if they would book him right. He's got the look, the charisma, the mic skills, the athleticism etc. He's not great in the ring, but he's not bad either. He could be a legit champion in a year if they build him up. Beating both Anderson and Pope was a good start.

I agree though, Claudio is the best big man in wrestling, but he's only 6'5, Morgan is a real big man at 7'0.

Eh. When I hear the term "jump" in regards to pro wrestling I'm thinking of all the action and movements that occured more than a decade ago. If Desmonde Wolfe, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Rob Terry, Abyss, etc, etc, etc chose to "jump ship" and sign with WWE it would be a non-event. Why? Because every single one of them would be headed to WWE's developmental territory for a few months or years before they would ever show up on WWE programming. Plus, the internet pretty much kills any real surprises that happen in wrestling anymore. Back when Lex Luger showed up on WCW Nitro it was a big deal because A. it was a real surprise and B. Luger was ready to wrestle in WCW, he didn't need grooming. Same deal when Ric Flair showed up on WWF tv with the Big Gold Belt. So, the only guys who could "jump" from TNA to WWE have already wrestled in WWE (ie Nash, Angle) or possibly Sting for a short program leading up to his retirement match at WrestleMania (fill in the blank) and his induction into the Hall of Fame and subsequent WWE produced DVD collection.

Necro I dissagree there is no way someone like samoa joe aj styles are matt morgan go to developmental before they go to wwe. I think wwe would want them on air asap to give that sort of suprise and just so vince could have the smug look on his face of look who I stole. Now I think they would be bring them to smackdown not raw but still Vince would want to gloat. I know vince may not be worried about TNA but I damn sure know that he keeps and eye and a ear out when it comes to us because we may not be competion now but it dsoesn't mean we won't be competion in the future.

I guarendamntee that Samoa Joe would go straight to FCW upon signing with WWE. Punk went to FCW/OVW, Danielson went to FCW, why wouldn't anyone from TNA that doesn't already know the WWE style not go to FCW? As far as WWE is concerned, TNA is nothing more than another Indy fed with TV and PPV deals.
