Gary Coleman, child star of 'Diff'rent Strokes," has been removed from life support and passed away.

Coleman was admitted to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Wednesday, May 26 after he fell and hit his head. The doctors said a brain hemorrhage was what most likely caused the fall and left him in critical condition.

In a statement released Friday, May 28 by Coleman's manager John Alcantar, it was made public that "Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened ... Mr. Coleman has been unconscious and on life support."

Coleman's wife Shannon Price and her father were at the hospital Friday.

Coleman has suffered with various medical hardships his entire life. His growth was halted at an early age due to a congenital kidney disease that destroys the auto-immune system. It left him standing only 4'8" tall. He has undergone two kidney transplants, one in 1973 and one in 1984, and requires daily dialysis. Coleman also suffered a seizure on the set of "The Insider" in February 2010.

He has also been plagued by financial difficulties, stemming from a mismanagement of his "Diff'rent Strokes" earnings by his parents. Coleman successfully sued his parents in 1989 and won a $1.28 million judgment in 1993, but later filed for bankrupcy in 1999.

Coleman has also been involved in various assault and domestic dispute incidents and an automobile accident charge of disorderly conduct and reckless driving. This type of tragedy has plagued the stars of "Diff'rent Strokes," as star Dana Plato committed suicide in 1999 and star Todd Bridges fought drug and alcohol problems, though he is now clean and sober and speaks about the dangers of drugs.

RIP, Gary Coleman.

Yeah, he had prostate cancer. He was very sickly looking when I saw him on TV getting some honor in Los Angeles.

From the AP:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic "Easy Rider," died on Saturday from complications of prostate cancer, a friend of the actor said. Hopper was 74.

The hard-living screen star died at his home in the coastal Los Angeles suburb of Venice at 8:15 a.m. PDT (1515 GMT), surrounded by family and friends, the friend, Alex Hitz, told Reuters.

In a wildly varied career spanning more than 50 years, Hopper appeared alongside his mentor James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant" in the 1950s and played maniacs in such films as "Apocalypse Now," "Blue Velvet" and "Speed."

He received two Oscar nominations -- for writing "Easy Rider" (with co-star Peter Fonda and Terry Southern), and for a rare heartwarming turn as an alcoholic high-school basketball coach in the 1986 drama "Hoosiers."

"Easy Rider," regarded is one of the greatest films of American cinema, helped usher in a new era in which the old Hollywood guard was forced to cede power to young filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese.

The low-budget blockbuster, originally conceived by Fonda, introduced mainstream moviegoers to pot-smoking, cocaine-dealing, long-haired bikers.

"We'd gone through the whole '60s and nobody had made a film about anybody smoking grass without going out and killing a bunch of nurses," Hopper told Entertainment Weekly in 2005. "I wanted 'Easy Rider' to be a time capsule for people about that period."

Hopper and Fonda were joined on screen by a then-unknown Jack Nicholson as an alcoholic lawyer, but it was not a harmonious set. Hopper clashed violently with everyone and Fonda later described him as a "little fascist freak." Their friendship was destroyed.

Hopper fell ill last September. He continued working almost to the very end, both on his cable TV series "Crash" and on a book showcasing his photography. But his final months were also consumed by a bitter divorce battle with his fifth wife, Victoria Duffy.

Indeed, his private life was never dull. His marriages included an eight-day union in 1970 with Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and Papas, who later told Vanity Fair that she was subjected to "excruciating" treatment.

Hopper is survived by four children.

True, I forgot about his passing. Also Rue McClanahan died today June 3rd so I suppose if you wanted to keep it related strictly to deaths in May she wouldn’t be included.

In sad news for me and all UCLA Bruins fans I am sure it appears that legendary coach John Wooden is in grave condition at the UCLA Medical Center. The 99 year old coach led the Bruins to 10 National Championships from 1948-1975 including 7 in a row and is considered by many to be the greatest basketball coach of all-time at any level. On a day when the Lakers are getting ready to defend their NBA Championship his passing would definitely put a damper on things .

Yeah I just saw this on the news. Its crazy, we've had some celebs in their 40s, 50s, 60s,70s pass on. Coach Wooden is 99 and on death's doorstep. It makes me incredibly grateful for the fact that Grandpa is pushing 96!!!(later this month) and STILL going strong. Daily walks and everything. People see him and think he's in his 60s. I guess he's the embodiment of "Black don't crack". I can only hope to be in his condition at that age.

RIP Coach.

Thumbs up on that one. I had a case of insomnia so I listened to ESPN radio through the wee hours. Bob Valvano(brother of the late Jimmy V) talked about this and his personal interaction with coach Wooden. It seems like everyone who played for or against him had the utmost respect for him as a man and as a basketball coach. It may be corny or cliche but he is one of those bball figures that I wish I could have played for or at the very minimum talk to. Over the years I've heard many many former players call up the sportstalk stations during March Madness and speak glowingly of him. R.I.P Coach Wooden

Comic Robert Schimmel died last night from complications stemming from a car accident. He was a passenger when his daughter lost control of their car.

This is the most I've been bummed about a celebrity death since Redd Foxx died.

Mr. Schimmel was the funniest comic I ever heard. He also had one of the most difficult lifes. He survived two heart surgeries and non-Hodgekins lymphoma and was currently awaiting a liver transplant. In fact, it was his story of survival that helped me cope with my dad's cancer fight. To say I'm depressed over this is an understatement. To make things worse I wanted to see him perform recently and also planned a personal donation to his charity. But life got in the way and I said "maybe next year." Now I won't have the chance to tell him not only how much he entertained me but Aldo inspired me. This just sucks.
