Graphics Forum Guidelines
Welcome to the graphics forum. This article of sorts (well, list of points really) was put together by myself and Romeo. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us or leave a reply.
To request a sig, you really have two options. Option one is that you make a post in the request thread (http://www.lopforums.com/showthread.php?t=380), detailing your request there. Option two is to contact a specific person who you'd like to make the sig/banner/etc. You can do this in many ways, for example in their thread if they have one, by PM, by email, aim etc. Hell, if you have their phone number you can text them. Basic premise, contact them.
Some of us will only make graphics for those of a good forum reputation. All this means is that as long as you are a member who we generally like due to your posts or have favourable communication with you either on the forum or off it, you'll be fine. How do you know if you have this undefinable 'Good Rep'? Well just ask for a sig or have a conversation of sorts and it'll be clear pretty quick. NB: This doesn't necessarily mean you have to have talked to us specifically if you have a decent reputation.
When making a request, please try to give as much detail as possible, this will most likely result in the sig or banner looking as you like it, and quickly to. Try finding some images you'd like incorporated and give links. This helps us an unbelievable amount.
If the request is urgent, or there is some kind of deadline (i.e. Column release date) then say so. We will try to get it done before the deadline by making it a priority. However, do not abuse this, as you may find yourself with no one willing to make your sigs if you are given an inch and take a mile. Otherwise, some kind of broader deadline is appreciated, as we will tend to work to this. Leaving no type of deadline could well mean it takes over 6 months to get a sig or banner done. And that's not exaggeration ... It's happened a few times.
Though not a hard-fast, unbreakable rule, please try to leave around 30 days or so between requesting new sigs or banners. Sometimes these can take hours to do, so it's nice to see them up for at least a while.
Do not make the same request to different people. Just don't. As soon as we find that you are, you'll likely find yourself blacklisted for a while. Don't do it. If you don't mind who does it, put it in the request thread, that's where we'll go after our lists are empty, and where new guys will do theirs from. NB: sigs and banners are different requests.
Help the new guys out. If you see someone who's just starting out, but they don't have much to do as they are unproven/have little experience, give them some sig ideas so that they can get experience. We all have to start somewhere and without those requests, we can't progress as quickly. (Personal thanks to Hustle among others as he helped me considerably in this way when I started.)
Feel free to leave feedback, negative or positive. Hell, feel encouraged to do so, as it can only help us improve.
Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoy your shiny new graphic once all is said and done.
